St. Vladimir's Academy is no ordinary school. Nestled in the Rocky Mountains, it's a super-secretive nocturnal institution for Moroi (vampires) and the Dhampir (half-vampire, half-human) who are sworn to protect them. It's also a refuge from the undead evil vampires known as the Strigoi. Rose Hathaway, a Dhampir, and her best friend Lissa, Moroi royalty, ran away from St. Vladimir's Academy when a mysterious danger threatened their safety, choosing to risk facing Strigoi rather than stay in their gilded prison. But their runaway life is interrupted by a mysterious new Russian Dhampir named Dimitri, who hauls them back to St. Vladimir's. Rose is less than thrilled—the danger at St. Vladimir's has not passed, and she and Lissa have a strange psychic connection that neither of them can explain, but could prove dangerous if it's known. Unfortunately for Rose, no one believes her fears are credible—though Dimitri might. If only they can get set aside their forbidden attraction to one another and work together to discover who is threatening their lives.

The Vampire Academy series is told from Rose's perspective, and the audiobooks feature three great female narrators over the course of the series. Stephanie Wolf narrates Vampire Academy, and experienced urban fantasy narrator Khristine Hvam performs Frost Bite and Shadow Kissed. Actor Emily Shaffer rounds out the rest of the series by narrating Blood Promise, Spirit Bound, and Last Sacrifice. Shaffer also continues to narrate Mead's Vampire Academy spin-off series, Bloodlines!

This six-book series has sold more than 8 million copies in 35 countries and was adapted into a movie called Vampire Academy, starring Zoey Deutch.
