Summary

Thea Quinn has no idea what she is. All she knows is that her abilities have been a plague upon her life since she was a child. After years of suffering at the hands of a megalomaniac, Thea escaped and has been on the run ever since.

The leadership and protection of his pack are of the utmost importance to Conall MacLennan, Alpha and Chief of Clan MacLennan, the last werewolf pack in Scotland. Which is why watching his sister slowly die of a lycanthropic disease is emotional torture. When Conall is approached by a businessman who offers a cure for his sister in exchange for the use of Conall's rare tracking ability, Conall forges an unbreakable contract with him. He has to find and retrieve the key to the cure: dangerous murderer Thea Quinn.

Thea's attempts to evade the ruthless werewolf are not only thwarted by the Alpha but by outside dangers. With no choice but to rely on one another for survival, truths are revealed, intensifying a passionate connection they both fight to resist. At war with themselves and each other, Conall and Thea's journey to Scotland forces them to face a heartrending choice between love and betrayal.

About time.

It’s about time... a heroine who is a badass but doesn’t need to brag about it, she is not rude or talks down to people. She actually doesn’t need to talk a lot at all. There is not pages of her inner most thoughts and feelings. She thinks, analyses and concludes in a straight forward manner. Her full background is told once, in one lump to the hero, not a hundred of bits and pieces repeat throughout the book. There is still a small puzzle but nothing that any PNR fan wouldn’t have figured out. The love story is good and simple, the action is great, and the HEA isn’t abrupt we get a bit of after story which is always a great way to feel good at the end of the book. A real pleasant surprise. I loved it.

Five Stars for That Brogue!

If I'm honest here, I may have given an extra star simply because I fell in love with Conall and that Scottish brogue. I could listen to this for days on end and not get tired of it. Conall himself is quite the keeper as well: strong, smart, protective to a fault, loyal, honest, faithful, and able to give his entire heart to just the right woman. Not a thing wrong with that package.

Thea's a pretty impressive character as well. She may look diminutive and meek, but she's one tough level-headed woman. She's used to having to rely on only her own resources and using her wits to keep herself alive. It's worked so far. But she's never met anything like Conall. Then again, he's never run across anything like Thea, either. They're both in new territory here.

This plot line ran at werewolf speed and agility from beginning to its glorious end. Throughout this headlong run, pretty much all of the reader's emotions are trotted out for some time around the track. Conall and Thea have a wonderful slow burn going from enemies to friends to why-did-we-wait-so-long. Snarky banter and intriguing battles with interesting enemies also add to the fun.

Amazing New Paranormal Series.

I was so in the mood for a new paranormal. This series is one I have started seeing people really talk about. There is something truly spectacular about a well done paranormal series. There is something about someone who can build an entire world and make it not only believable, but also something you crave to know more about. This book does all that. The best part is it is mostly based in Scotland. This paranormal has Werewolves and vampires and something else. I will not spoil what the something else is... but you will see.
Our hero Connell is the chief and Alpha of the larges and oldest pack in Scotland. He is sent on a mission to capture this other supernatural that has killed. He takes the mission because they prove they can save the life of the sister he loves.
Thea is the supernatural Connell is after. She eventually tells her full story. I will not go into the details because it was so fun to discover her story. Let's just say she is beyond rare and powerful.
The hate lust between these two is strong, till one point it just boils over and explodes. It explodes so good. It is so hot and powerful. The sexual chemistry is so strong.
I will not tell anymore because it would contain too many spoilers. Let's just say. there is a happily every after. Also this is world I will continue through. I can't wait for more.

Love and betrayal!

I’ve read a ton of paranormal romance stories, but S. Young outdid any of my past experience with paranormal stories! Thea and Conall’s enemies to lovers story transcends the evil obsession of her adopted father and overcomes the dangers in their path, betrayal, and deceit. Conall and Thea’s relationship was passionate, and honest. Their connection with one another was solidified by the truths they discovered about one another and the outside dangers they had to overcome. Mhairi Morrison was a new narrator to me. Her performance was okay, slow at times but easy to listen to.

Truth Conquers

Overall I'd give this book 3.75 stars

It was a slow burn which I didn't mind but the story at times lost my attention. Could be the narrator though and not the story. I don't want to say more to avoid spoiling since a big secret is what Thia is.

Narration was 3 stars and that is generous.

I really hope she picks a different narrator for book 2. I loved her narrator for On Dublin St. I could hear this narrator swallow and take breaths and it was really distracting. Had I not received this as a gift from a family memeber I would have returned it after the first few chapters. Her male voices sound way too feminine and almost the same as the female main character she was voicing.

I hate leaving negative reviews but please please choose a different narrator for the rest of the series.

Always one if my favorites

I loved this paranormal, and as always Samantha's books may actually be better in Audible with those amazing accents truly enhancing the story. I couldn't wait to finish this one and see how Thea & Conall's story would play out. I wasn't disappointed and hopefully there's going to be a continuation after this book considering the epilogue.
