Summary
Charlie Payne has been busy learning to master her magical abilities with mixed results. Unfortunately, there's no time to get discouraged because a rash of ghosts keeps showing up looking for Charlie's help when she least expects it.
Now, Charlie and her cousins must figure out what's killing the good and not-so-good people of Palmetto Point before the next person dies. Otherwise, they may end up the targets of a modern-day witch hunt.

Okay
I really couldn’t recommend this book as so much of it felt descriptive and not related to the story to the extent I got bored at times.

Just so mediocre
The series was never a literary classic, but the storylines were enjoyable none the less, but unfortunately it all goes downhill in this book.
Parts of the story that seemed pointless or as if they were forgotten about. what happened to the missing boy in the beginning? what was the point of the chickens? Why does Charlie keep calling Jason her partner when he just asks her advice when it suits him and they arent actually working together? The book hints that Charlie has powers beyond her understanding but is she ever actually going to learn how to use them?
As I have listened on audible I've missed all the glaring typos and mistakes apparently in the printed version none the less when we get towards the end of the book some things are obvious even spoken. it's if if someone else was left to just fill in the dialogue and gaps once the storyline was put together (how many times didn't we need to hear "he said" "she said" etc in the space of 5 minutes? In a conversation between 2 people!)
I'm not sure how all these books have such high ratings but I guess it's the same reason so many people tune into Eastenders or read trashy romance novels.
if they were included in my subscription I'd probably carry on listening till I got so annoyed with the bad character development (reviews on the next books arent promising for that) but I'm not wasting a credit to get annoyed at a book.
