About this listen

Narrated by acclaimed British actor Edward Petherbridge. On the eve of war, Sherlock Holmes is asked by the Prime Minister of England to recover a new British superweapon that has fallen into the wrong hands. But Lucy James, an actress and Holmes's recently discovered grown daughter, has inherited the family sleuthing skills and strong-willed nature. Despite her father's objections, she insists on helping him, although several horrific murders have been linked to the weapon's disappearance. With Dr. Watson, Holmes and Lucy follow the trail to Germany, uncovering a sinister plot that puts them directly in the line of fire. Featuring appearances from real-life notables Nikola Tesla, King Edward VII, and Kaiser Wilhelm II, this electrifying new mystery puts the greatest deductive mind of his era into a race to save the Empire.©2016 Charles Veley (P)2016 Charles Veley Action & Adventure Crime Thrillers Detective Fiction Historical Fiction International Mystery & Crime Mystery Mystery, Thriller & Suspense Private Investigators Thriller Thriller & Suspense Traditional Detectives Women Sleuths Women's Fiction Crime Sherlock Holmes Celebrity War

This book is even better than the previous one in the series, to which I also gave 5 stars.
I am off to read the next one now!

I listened with some trepidation but thoroughly enjoyed Edward Petherbridge's narration and the storyline was entertaining.

Petherbridge is a joy to listen to

Again somewhat spoilt by American failings in English. The most noticeable being the repeated use of the term "Your Majesty" and others reserved for the reigning monarch used to address the Prince of Wales, who should have been addressed as "Your Royal Highness" until he became King Edward VII.

Americanese 2.0

I didn’t know what to expect, selected and pressed play as Sherlock Holmes had caught my attention on the cover!
So glad I did, enjoyed from start to finish, well read, all in all capturing a clever sequel.

What a surprise

I found it lacked depth and pace. Also felt repetitive. The exquisitely talented Mr Petheridge although a joy to hear was wasted. Great shame as I expected it to be so much more

Disappointing
