I have never listened to books with so much variation in narrators through a series - having 2 different narrators giving their version of accents is confusing and distracting, the early books had appalling accents, then when Mary Jane Wells, a talented voice actress, finally got the sole gig and Simon Prebble went, I was delighted. Now we have these two new narrators who are fine but have not aided the series in any way and we are back to square one. You should either get narrators to stick to certain voices and collaborate on chapters or have a sole narrator. Story is good as always.

Bring back Mary Jane Wells!

Having enjoyed the first book in this series I moved on to this book. Readers are introduced to more characters including two American Pinkerton Agents who join the cast. I liked the fact that we get to know Lucy better and that her relationship with Holmes gets deeper. The story also involves young Flynn and Becky who are part of Holmes’ irregular’s. The story is fast paced and keeps you guessing right up to the end. The only criticism is that because the author is American there are far too many Americanisms that pop up in all the books I’ve listened to so far. Having said that, I will stick with them as I like the genre and the storyline

Another exciting adventure
