About this listen

Whispers of Legends, Tangles of Intrigue, and the Loch Ness Enigma

In the soft glow of the Scottish summer of 1900, Lucy James and Sherlock Holmes find themselves in the heart of Inverness, in the home of Scotland's famed whiskey trade. Yet, their purpose is far from leisurely. They are on the hunt for the culprits behind a nefarious plot that threatens to shatter the very foundations of the British government.

Stolen bonds worth millions and the looming danger of a perilous attack on unsuspecting citizens propel them to the enigmatic shores of Loch Ness. Beneath the surface of this vast lake, something lurks - be it a monster of old tales or the monstrous truth of their investigation. The team from Baker Street finds themselves ensnared in a mystery where shadows and whispers merge, and time is of the essence.

I really do like these mashup stories and enjoy listening and I’ve got used to the new narrators voices, but the constant mispronunciation of words as someone who likes words, is cringemaking!
Words like coughing pronounced “core- fing”, the place Southwark, pronounced “south WARK” and this one was a doozy- the QUAY on the river- pronounce as KWAY!!!!
Come on, you can do better than this. Someone with good English needs to be checking the recordings before they go out. Is it because it’s American narrated???!!!

Great stories. Shame about multiple bad pronunciation

I have read quite a few of the books in this series and have really enjoyed them. However, Dallin Bradford who narrates part of the book makes a number of mispronunciations eg. - quay (pronounced kway rather than key), buoy (pronounced boo-ee), Southwark not correctly pronounced as Sutherk, as it should be, to name but a few. It's a pity that the many errors in all the books I've listened to so far in the series have not been checked by a native English speaker to ensure the language is authentic.

Entertaining

I have made my way through this whole series and so will stick with it, but what started really well is becoming quite lazy and predictable - always a kidnapping, always being knocked out with chloroform or by being hit on the head from behind - for such experienced investigators they seem never to be able to guess it will happen, I’m surprised they are not brain injured by now!! It’s ok just to have them sneak around in safety you know! Always an unlikely but last minute escape, always a hint of romance brewing. The development of characters and interesting facts about them are not as good for new characters. There is still evidence of good research. It is further hampered by poor narration, the male narrator has not even bothered to learn how to pronounce Inverness, as a major Scottish city, you think he could have asked advice from his co narrator or even You Tube! An inability to manage UK accents and the Highland accent tropes are pretty poor, even Iona the other narrator who is from the UK struggles to
manage a convincing Scottish accent. The women’s and male US accents are barely any different from each other either. Yikes!

Getting quite predictable
