Excellent content and delivery.

I have listened to Justin on the radio since he started. As someone who seeks to ardently engage with sceptics, atheists and cynical seekers I feared this book wouldn’t live up to its obvious potential. I have immediately hit restart upon completion and can say all fears have been thoroughly banished.
With clarity, fairness and compassion this book has given the backstory and fore-view of the changing tides of belief in God and its undercurrents.

An essential read for all who are seeking to locate themselves in relation to God amid the melee of 21st century ideologies, and understand our direction of travel as a society.

Easy to understand

I read quite a few books centred around Christian apologetics and similar topics. This book never confused me or left me reaching for the dictionary. Well structured and well written. Excellent narration by the author.

Era defining

If there’s any justice, this book will be recognised as the marking of the early rumblings of a great shift away from atheism and metaphysical materialism and towards the embrace of Christianity. On a personal level, I felt like my journey from atheism to Christianity via the consciousness-as-ontological-primitive type thinking of people like Iain McGilchrist was being read back to me. All the thinkers sited were significant in that journey.
Brierley does an amazing job of both charting the course from New Atheism through Jordan Peterson to the converts he mentioned and giving enough detail to the arguments he’s collected over the years for them to feel well explicated. He seems so balanced and generally lovely too.
I loved this book and hope it’s as commercially successful as The God Delusion.

Comprehensive & Insightful

When I saw this book was set for release I pre-ordered to make sure I didn't forget.

I come from a background of teenage years spent reading the New Atheists, Dawkins, Hitchens & Harris.

It was after reading Tom Holland's Dominion that I realised, as he did, that my entire worldview is basically shaped by Christianity. I had taken a lot for granted and hadn't given Christianity the respect it deserved.

There are two other factors that have had an impact, the rise of wokeness forced me to evaluate why I felt for example, everyone should be treated equally and identity politics was likely to lead to negative outcomes. The other factor is seeing the development of The Meaning Crisis in people around me, a rise in depression and mental health problems.

I say all this to give an idea as to who it is writing this review.

Justin Brierley does an excellent job at covering the key ground. I found the style to be very engaging & accessible, even when dealing with the more complex topics.

I've thoroughly enjoyed listening to it and would certainly recommend it.

As I mentioned, I am an Atheist but I've come to appreciate Christianity much more and am reluctant to use that term any more as I feel I'm much closer to being Christian than not.

Hugely encouraging and informative - I would recommend that everyone should read/listen to this book

In this book Justin neatly encapsulates the breadth of apologetic discussion in present and recent times, aids our understanding of various ways of thinking about existence and the human condition and provides a real and encouraging challenge to believers here and now with sound advice and great wisdom. Having enjoyed and benefited so much from Justin's work previously I admit that I expected nothing less.
