Story
From the upper room of Pentecost to Azusa Street in Los Angeles, God has used prayer movements throughout history to change the world. More than 15 years ago, a group of students gathered for a prayer vigil in Chichester, England - and the prayers they started haven’t stopped. Out of that first meeting came 24-7 Prayer: an international movement of prayer, mission, and justice. Red Moon Rising is the story of how that movement continues today - and how each of us can be a part of the miracles God is doing through a new generation.

Story
A fresh, challenging and compassionate response to busyness, based on the way of life Jesus offered his disciples. Who are you becoming? That was the question nagging pastor and author John Mark Comer. By outward metrics, everything appeared successful. But inwardly, things weren't pretty. So he turned to a trusted mentor for guidance and heard these words: 'Ruthlessly eliminate hurry from your life. Hurry is the great enemy of the spiritual life.' It wasn't the response he expected, but it continues to be the answer he needs.

Many of us ache for relationship with God, yet feel distant and disconnected from him. As if he's more of an idea we believe in our head than a person we relate to. But God has a name: Yahweh. This one simple idea has the potential to radically alter how you relate to God, not as a doctrine, but as a relational being who responds to you in an elastic, back-and-forth way.

The God of the universe - the Creator of nitrogen and pine needles, galaxies and E-minor - loves us with a radical, unconditional, self-sacrificing love. And what is our typical response? We go to church, sing songs, and try not to cuss. Are you hungry for an authentic faith that addresses the problems of our world with tangible, even radical, solutions? God is calling you to a passionate love relationship with Himself. Because the answer to religious complacency isn’t working harder at a list of do's and don'ts - it's falling in love with God.

One woman's struggle against the darkness of Hong Kong's drug dens. Until it was pulled down, the Walled City was Hong Kong's most foreboding territory. It was a lawless place, dominated by the Triads, and which the police hesitated to enter. Strangers were unwelcome. Drug smuggling and heroin addiction flourished, as did prostitution and pornography, extortion and fear. When Jackie Pullinger set sail from England in 1966 she had no idea that God was calling her to the Walled City.

But God is waking up his people - people who will risk everything and sacrifice anything to become the dynamic, powerful church seen in Scripture. We Are Church calls Christ-followers, young and old, to hold fast to their biblical roots while seeking radical change. Scripture promises an exuberant and unstoppable church. That wondrous early church of acts can be our reality today.

Can't anyone teach me how to pray?"" Millions of people today are asking the same question. There is a sense of the necessity of prayer - we have to pray. But how?' Prayer is central to Christian faith; indeed, as Timothy Keller notes in his introduction, it is the main way we experience deep change. Story
We live in a time when our culture is becoming increasingly shallow, coarse, and empty. Radical shifts in the areas of sexuality, ethics, technology, secular ideologies, and religion have caused the once-familiar landscape of a generation ago to be virtually unrecognizable. Yet rather than shine as a beacon of light, the church often is silent or accommodating. This isn’t a new phenomenon. During World War II, pastor and theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer was deeply troubled by the compromise in the German church.

Incredibly thought provoking
I’ve been a Christian for over 40 years. I’ve read many books by people who have been moved to do remarkable things by the power of God - Wesley, Hudson Taylor, Muller etc. What makes this book so challenging is that we are reading of issues that relate to us in the here and now. I can read of the historic greats and learn patterns. In this book I’m forced to consider issues I see in people walking by; events on the news; issues in the wider Christian church.
Many, many examples of the power of prayer are highlighted and celebrated - which is fantastic. But for me the most powerful purpose of the book is to look back at the ‘great cloud of witnesses’ and to see how they work together with great moves that God is doing now. I’ve felt uncomfortable at times as I faced my own well ingrained views. But I couldn’t wait to read what would happen next and to enjoy looking at my own views again in a different light.
This book is well informed and intelligently written, but it is not heavy. It is long, but given the content, I would happily go back to the beginning and listen to it all again. A ‘must read’ for any Christian who wants to be challenged to a deeper and more effective Christian walk.

It is indeed time to start.
I loved ever minute of this book. Reading it is great but having Pete read it to me was like sitting with an old friend whom I had lost touch with bring me up to date with the sometimes hilarious, sometimes sad, sometimes plain unbelievable going ons in his life. Every word was a insight a revelation a gentle nudge or downright 'just get on with it' call to action as I found myself remembering my own journey it's highs and lows it's challenges and stumbles and then hearing God break in with fresh encouragement that it was indeed time to start once again to pioneer the next new thing He is leading me into. Yet knowing just like Pete and all the others that I cannot do it, there is no hope of success - except that He is coming too and He always always has a way of accomplishing more than I can hope or imagine. Let the journey begin.

Best ever Christian audiobook!
Would you listen to Dirty Glory again? Why?
Definitely! There are so many gems of truth within this book, that I may need to relisten several times in order to absorb them all.
Have you listened to any of Pete Greig’s other performances? How does this one compare?
I haven’t found any other books narrated by Pete yet, and trust me, I have looked, otherwise I would comment. His style of narration is beautifully natural, almost as if he was simply chatting to you by the fireside - you can hear and feel the passion in his voice, but with perfect grammar and attention to detail. He really WANTS you to understand what he’s saying, so it’s relaxed and unhurried.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
There are too many moments to mention. Every chapter contains at least one “wow” moment!
Any additional comments?
This is the best audiobook I’ve ever listened to (and I’ve listened to dozens) both in content and delivery. I believe that if a book truly moves you and spurs you into action, it has fulfilled its potential - and I’m about to move! Thank you, Pete. God bless you.

Excellent Encouraging and Engaging
This is a beautiful book full of wonderful testimonies and astounding stories. Pete Greig narrates himself and is very pleasant to listen to. He has a beautiful reading voice. The book has a lovely pace, good structure and is enriching. I didn’t like the final few chapters as much as the rest of the book and I can’t say I would agree with everything Greig says, but it is a lovely gentle yet powerful book. If you are interested in prayer as a force to reckon with, it’s a must read.

Without Any Doubt The BEST Audible Book for Any Person of Faith
Our family listened spellbound during the great Texas polar vortex/ power outages. No power, candles only, in front of a fireplace, listening on a battery powered Bluetooth speaker. A truly amazing experience!
Pete Greig’s life, love for God, love for people, and willingness to say “yes” to Jesus have launched a worldwide movement ordained for this era. The true stories of adventure, pioneering, faith, trust, and most of all, God’s presence and faithfulness to His people and the lost/needy will inspire, encourage and transform your life and God’s Kingdom.
Superbly narrated by the author.
You will want to listen and read again and again, but more importantly, you will want to pray and get involved in your own exciting adventures saying yes to where and what God has uniquely in store for your part of His plan.

I'm sad it ended
I listened to this book after Peter's, Red Moon Rising. Moved by the Holy Spirit several times with tears in my eyes as I praised God and heard His call upon my own life. This book not only confirmed some of the things that God has been speaking into my life already, but it gave me the words to understand what it was that God was trying to convey about his lost people and how we are truly to be the light in a loving way. This book conveys true Christianity in the most authentic, biblical way. I was sad to have it end. I could have listened for weeks, but I guess it's time for me to live out my own version, not just sit back and listen to someone else's story. Prayer is powerful... prayer is dangerous... I Highly Recommend this book!
