About this listen

Come closer.

My name is Lacey Ray and I am thirteen years old. I should be an ordinary girl, but I am not. My ancestors were killers. I was born into darkness and secrets.

Come closer.

I am fourteen years old. I am learning to move. To navigate the silences that exist between the ticking of clocks. To stand on the edge of the abyss and look down.

Come closer.

I am fifteen years old. I am ready to be alone. To be powerful. To be the perfect predator.

Come closer and let me whisper to you.

My name is Lacey Ray and I can hardly wait to get started.

The eighth book in a series of procedural crime thrillers by bestselling writer Wes Markin. The Secret Diary of Lacey Ray is perfect for fans of J.D Kirk, L.J Ross, Ian Rankin, Alex Smith, David Gatward, Rachel McLean and Ann Cleeves, among others.

Loved Lacey’s character in the series was so looking forward to this book - think my expectations were to blame but did te joy this- I’ve enjoyed ever other book and Wes Markin is a fav but this for me was disappointing- I’m sure others will enjoy though

Think I excepted something different

I was sorry to have wasted a credit on this book. I’ve followed the series and was excited to listen it. But unfortunately, in my humble opinion, the reader sounds very inexperienced, unprepared and quite dreary. I haven’t gotten to the end of chapter 2 and have marked it as finished and archived it. Such a shame as the character has so much to tell, just with a lot more feeling

Really disappointing

Absolutely binging this series! Not as gruesome or graphic as the DCI Yorke series but pretty dark and descriptive. I thought the diary format charting Lacey's origins was an inspired idea and it was skillfully narrated with a quiet brooding tone, which was appropriate for Lacey.

It's a standalone book that can be listened to at any point during the original series.

Another bingeworthy thriller from Markin

Expected a crime thriller - not this. Didn’t follow series at all. Going to get a refund

Not what I expected
