Summary

Reverend Annabelle Dixon is back!

Annabelle, a madcap vicar with a taste for sweets and a nose for crime, lives in the village of Upton St. Mary. Usually.

In this box set though, she travels around, taking her compassion, charm, and inquisitive nature with her. What transpires are fast-paced, exciting adventures that are full of heart and justice. Is there a little romance on the cards, too?

These books are clean, cozy mysteries that contain no swearing or graphic descriptions of violence or bedroom activities.

This digital box set contains the fifth, sixth, and seventh mysteries in this best-selling series.

Horror in the Highlands: Annabelle has agreed to fill in for the local minister on the tiny Scottish island of Blodraigh. For Annabelle, it’s a chance to get away and spend some time with her brother and young niece who live on the storm-swept island. But she has no idea she’s about to be drawn into a web of mystery and intrigue. When a dead body is connected to a mysterious theft, it plunges the secretive community into a state of chaos and fear. As Annabelle begins her investigation, she must struggle against the incompetent local police, as well as a community steeped in suspicion and gossip. With time running out, can Annabelle solve the crime before the culprits strike again? Or before the islanders take matters into their own hands?

Killer at the Cult: A sinister cult. A body in the woods. A mystery more devious than Annabelle’s diet. When Annabelle decides to pay these new residents a visit, what she finds is a quirky cult and a ritual that sends her fleeing into the woods, where she promptly trips over a dead body! With an entire cult full of suspects, can Annabelle unravel the killer’s identity, or will more death and mayhem ensue?

Fireworks in France: When a French priest collapses at Easter Mass, the church suspects foul play. A missing junior priest quickly becomes the prime suspect, but not everyone agrees, and when Annabelle’s oldest friend in the whole world asks for help with this conundrum, how can Annabelle say no? On top of all this, Mike has a puzzle of his own to solve. He’s determined to help Annabelle put this killer away. Can he do it before they spoil his romantic plan for good?

The madcap crime-solving lady vicar is back!

Reverend Annabelle seems to find entirely too many murders to get her teeth into, as vicar of an otherwise quiet Cornish village, and her talent for tripping over dead bodies brings her and Inspector Mike Nicholls head to head a little too often for her peace of mind ...

A wonderful series of thoroughly engaging mysteries that, as the author says, won't scare you to death - but will no doubt have you laughing as Reverend Annabelle makes her madcap way through to a thoroughly satisfying solution each time!

I 'read' an ARC copy of these books and this review is my honest opinion.

Another set of classic cozy mysteries

I have now listened to both box sets of the 'Reverend Annabelle Dixon Cozy Mysteries' this set includes books 5-7 and provides over 16 hours of listening.

As a big fan of cozy mysteries I thoroughly enjoy Alison Golden's books and the audio versions are just as enjoyable to listen to as the books are to read. This enjoyment is definitely enhanced by the narrator Penny Scott-Andrews who imbues all the characters with their own voices, making it very easy to listen to the books.

Annabelle is a madcap vicar who lives and works in a small Cornish village, Upton St. Mary, which is peopled by a whole range of characters from the positively eccentric to the down to earth, her main partners in madness are her housekeeper and parish secretary Phillipa and her now boyfriend Inspector Mike Nicholls, between them they face complicated mysteries, both in Cornwall, and further afield in these stories, firstly on a tiny Scottish island and then in rural France.

With her unerring instincts she manages to find the culprit in complicated murder mysteries, usually despite the local police, unless of course it is with Mike.

Ideally this set should be read after the first set as Annabelle develops in each story, and the stories in this set are more enjoyable with the background from the first set. Although it has to be said that each story is perfectly enjoyable as a stand-alone.

I received a review copy of this audiobook from the author, but this review and my ratings are honest and based on my own opinions.
