About this listen

What would you do if there weren't any consequences?

After 20 years on the force, Detective Chief Inspector Jack Logan thinks he has seen it all.

He is wrong.

When a nurse is murdered on her way home from nightshift, Jack and his team go on the hunt for her killer.

As more victims are uncovered, Jack finds himself tracking a murderer afflicted by a unique psychosis - one that leaves him free to maim and kill without a shred of remorse.

Facing a new type of killer in an unfamiliar city, DCI Jack Logan is about to be pushed to his limits, before being forced to realize just how little he truly knows.

The Killing Code is the third DCI Jack Logan crime thriller, and perfect for fans of Ian Rankin, Chris Brookmyre, and LJ Ross.

Sometimes I just want a straight-forward detective novel with an interesting plot and believable characters. This series delivers just that with the added bonus that it's set in Scotland in places I recognize. Also there's a bit of humour as an antidote to the harsh realities of crimes.
The narrator is very good.

Solid well told detective story

After reading some great reviews I decided to listen to the first one and four days later I’m on the third instalment. The crime element is gripping enough and the police are very realistically written but it’s the humour that really sets these books aside from other Scottish crime capers. DCI Logan is a loveable gruff character and all his supporting cast are well nuanced and interesting. I have laughed out loud several times and that normally only happens with Pratchett books.
The crimes are always very gruesome but not in a salacious way. There’s a lot of empathy and depth without being overly contemplative. These books are a real pleasure and the voice artist is outstanding. And like iron bru sausages you won’t know till you try. Highly recommend.
