Summary

Just when he thought he was out....

Burdened by guilt over the trauma recently inflicted on his friends and colleagues, former-Detective Chief Inspector Jack Logan has spent the past nine months living in self-imposed exile.

When a mother and her young daughter are the victims of a double murder staged to look like suicide, Logan is dragged back to help hunt down and catch a brutal, calculating killer.

But the world has moved on without him. To do what needs to be done, Logan must first find his place among old friends and new enemies before the killer strikes again, and a whole Highland community tears itself apart.

Maybe early retirement wasn't such a bad idea, after all....

The Big Man Upstairs is the seventh novel in the internationally best-selling DCI Jack Logan Scottish crime fiction series, and perfect for fans of Ian Rankin, Val McDermid, and Stuart MacBride.

A Very Entertaining Series.

A thoroughly enjoyable detective series - although the plots are based on serious crimes - I found myself laughing out loud at some of the interactions and antics of individual characters.
I very much hope there will be many more books to come!
Fantastic narration by Angus King - great character differentiation and not a bad attempt at a Welsh accent too!

Logan is a legend

The story continues with the whole gang reunited with a new potential member who I like already. I feel like I know these characters and that goes a long way to enjoying the plot which as usual was great. The narration is spot on and Logan and characters remain themselves - already eager to listen to the next x

JD Kirk & Angus King nail it again

I am absolutely in love with the DCI Logan series. JD Kirk’s dry Scottish wit coupled with Angus King’s amazing voice are a perfect match in this series. The storylines are unexpected, randomly make you laugh out loud, and are coupled with twisty plots and characters you love.

Excellent story and narration

I’ve enjoyed this series and, importantly, been transported to a distant land which helps immensely during the pandemic.

Ah, the "big man"

DCI Logan returns from his island sojourn, and must adapt to a new DSup, and to rebuilding some singed bridges with his team. Terrible murders (and they are) are to be solved, Ben needs to be helped with the loss of his Alice, and how will Tyler and Sinead ever get over seeing a bad case of arrested development (a suspect) in a BDSM situation. Not to mention Logan has to pass the "bleep test" to cement his return to duty. A gripping and fun outing, and the narration by Angus King is just a delight throughout. He is superb, and makes these characters come alive.

just like the rest GREAT

I can't finish them fast enough. Kirk can make me laugh out loud knee slapping laughing then crying the cussing to I hope they kill the F***** all in one book... I mean he's good real good. Then have King read this and WOW it can't get any better.. I know who's who as soon as they speak I know their mood I can feel their mood.. its just a great duo I hope when I finish the last one on Audible books that it's not actually the last of the series I honestly think I'll cry I've got very attached to these characters..
