Summary

A pantheon of forgotten gods. An old grudge between a talk show host, an heiress, and the man they shattered along the way. A rapidly deteriorating AI system. An inconvenient tiara upon the head of a friend.

It is bedlam on the eighth floor.

As management reels from the unexpected conclusion of the seventh level, the surviving crawlers stumble onto the eighth and find themselves scattered. It’s a map based on Earth’s final days before the collapse, where ethereal, intangible ghosts of humanity go about their lives, oblivious of the impending doom. Living amongst these ghosts are monsters based in Earth lore. “Legendary” creatures tied to the geographical location they inhabit.

Each team of crawlers is given a task: find and capture six of these beasts. The captured monsters will be turned into cards. Cards that can be summoned into battle again and again. The stronger and deadlier the better.

At the end of the floor, the bad guys will also have decks, and they will have some of the most powerful cards available. So it’s crucial to assemble the toughest squad possible.

But like always, there is a catch. There’s always a catch.

As Carl and Donut know all too well, just because someone is captured, it doesn’t mean they have been tamed.

Her name is Shi Maria. She’s easily the most powerful monster in their area. If they want to survive, they must capture her. But she is no ordinary beast. She’s intelligent. She was once married to a god, a god who is now missing. Her special attack is known to drive one insane. They call her the Bedlam Bride.

“Beware, beware. Beware the eye of the Bedlam Bride.”

Excellent addition

Amazing story - stick with it as the middle is a bit OTT but all comes together nicely!

Fantastic!

Fantastic work Matt and brilliantly performed by Jeff and his team.

This series is getting really exciting, I’m particularly enjoying the peak outside of the dungeon walls.

This is my second read through of the series so far on audible and I will definitely be listening to the sound booth version too.

Cheers Matt, keep up the good work!

incredible narration with all the emotions

I love this story. You can go from laughter to trying to hide the tears in your eyes at work in the space of 30 minutes. The only negative for this book is I wasn't a fan of the card combat system, I found the constant descriptions boring, but probably adds to the story if you play those games.

Series only gets better.

a brilliant addition, maybe even best of the series for me so far. Jeff Hayes hits every beat as a narrator and I'm sure was pretty stoked to have the inspiration for Carl's voice (Patrick Warburton) as a guest.
Genuinely laugh out loud in places we with imagery that you have never though of in your life ha. I'm thinking crabs and seals here.

New Achievement - You have read an audible review for this book. Great job. Haven't made up your mind after 5 books already? You meat sacks are so indecisive.

Need a deck and to live? I know a guy

The Eye of the Bedlam Bride by @mattdinniman. I mother fucking loved this book - the sixth in the series - any works with the word cunt in the first 5 minutes is a good one for me. The narration from @FiatCelebrity, @paddywarbucks, @TravisBaldree, #AnnieEllicott was phenomenal 🥳

The main thing about this sequel was its strong emphasis on a 🃏 deck-building #LitRPG akin to Yu-Gi-Oh with impressive and terrifying card characters such as the Bedlam Bride. And let's not forget the incredible card character Uzi Jesus carrying 🔫🔫 two uzis when upgraded.

This book set on a futuristic Earth with crawlers based in Columbia 🇨🇴 makes for an interesting mix of world-building. Topclass. This audiobook sounds great and that's because of #soundbooththeatres. I suggest you subscribe to access their additional content. 📚5/5⭐️ #BookReview
