About this listen
Essence to gather. Cards to level. A summoner's deck to build.
After the collapse of the known world, Rowan Wilder opened his eyes and found himself on the first floor of the Tower. With a flawless memory and a mere eight cards to his name, he must venture out and prepare himself for the coming calamity.
In this place of blood and fantasy, Rowan has to not only survive, but thrive as he powers his way to the top of the tower. The Demonic Plague that has twisted the creatures on the upper floors is the least of his worries after he reveals the coveted origin of the summoner.
Cane in hand and Summons by his side, he'll have to tear his way through beasts and humans alike as monsters, criminals, and zealots try to hinder his ascent. Of course, he can maintain a sense of decorum while he faces these trials, yeah?
Don't miss the first book in the series A Summoner Awakens, a deck-building LitRPG series utilizing a card-based magic system with loads of customization and steady power progression. Perfect for fans of All the Skills and Towers of Heaven, as well as games such as Slay the Spire, Hearthstone, and Gwent.
©2023 Aethon Books (P)2023 Aethon AudioRead this book in a day then the following day I decided to give the audiobook a go seeing as its narrated by Jeff Hays and it did not disappoint.
From start to finish the story is great, the characters are interesting and fun, the magic system is interesting and refreshing.
The voices performed by Jeff are exceptional as usual.

My first cards title
Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.
In this title we get a gentleman and I like that he acts like one. The world building is well done I do like the tower idea. The cards are interesting and the idea of using challenges to get some cards adds variety from always doing battle. Exploration is important.
The world created can be brutal but is offset by kindness there are fun moments and humour too just little things but it all adds to the quality of the story.
I like the hints of intrigue and bigger plans and plots. That there are ranked families, guilds and different churches means the world created is a busy place.
The pace is excellent I was never bored and was sad when the book ended.
The narrator did a brilliant job, he really knows his business and Soundbooth do great work.
I appreciate the card info at the end.
I look forward to the next book. Both author and narrator deserve thanks.
I really enjoyed this
