Summary

The gritty new thriller from the Queen of Crime Drama and the fifth book in the Sunday Times best-selling Jane Tennison series.

Jane Tennison has worked hard to become the first female detective ever posted to the infamous Flying Squad, or 'the Sweeney'. But the Dirty Dozen is a notorious boys' club, and Jane's new colleagues make it clear that they don't think a woman is up to the dangers of the job.

Dealing with some of London's most ruthless armed criminals, who think the only good cop is a dead cop, is no joke. Determined to prove she's as good as the men, Jane discovers from a reliable witness that a gang is going to carry out a massive robbery.

But she doesn't know who they are, or where and when they will strike....

Terrible Narration

I’ve listen to all the Lynda la Plante audible books, and was really looking forward to the release if this one, but the narration is awful. Unfortunately I have to return.

Awful narration

I am sure that the story is excellent but I couldn’t listen to it past the first few chapters as the narration was so poor. The narrator uses the same sing-song inflections for each sentence and seems to struggle to give them meaning. The dialogue is better but not good enough to make the rest of it worth listening to.

Just couldn't stand the naration

Desperately wanted to listen to this book and tried for hours but I found the spoken grammar terrible. Pauses in the wrong places and sometimes I think it was like listening to an Enid Blyton story with child like characters. Not at all what you would expect from a Prime Subject novel. Unfortunately I never got to the end so I cannot comment on the whole plot as I returned it.

Not good

I've listened to all the other Tennison books and loved them but this one is awful. I've given up after about five chapters. The story is boring, or maybe it's just the bad narration that makes it seem boring. Such a shame, I was really looking forward to it but can't listen to any more.

Disappointing

Having read the others in the series I was disappointed in the storyline this time. Narration was ok but I found the attempts at different accents a bit similar at times and irritating.

Appalling narration

The narrator absolutely ruined the book. I was disappointed with the storyline for such a long book, no tension or questions.

Shame about the performance

The reader does dialogue very well, but reads the narrative bits dreadfully by putting too much drama into it which results in disjointed sentences. It was very irritating. Please don’t spoil La Plantes marvellous stories with her again.

Such a great listen x

I really enjoyed this story.
The narration was superb, despite what other listeners have said I think Laura did a great job, I wouldn't be able to do it so thank you Laura for bringing this book to life.
Well done Linda x
Jane Tennison has become one of me mates I love how she has a no bullshit type of attitude and just shows that a woman can do a man's job in the flying squad x
