The first time I met Hudson Rothschild was at a wedding. I’d received an unexpected invitation to one of the swankiest venues in the city. Hudson was a groomsman and quite possibly the most gorgeous man I’d ever laid eyes on. He asked me to dance, and our chemistry was off the charts. I knew it wasn’t a good idea to get involved with him, considering the wedding I was at. But our connection was intense, and I was having a great time. Though the fun came to a screeching halt when Hudson figured out I wasn’t who I’d said I was.

But that doesn't change the fact their parents are dead, or that it's her fault. It seems her new normal is being a mute, living on the inside, unable to actually communicate on the outside.

To the rude guy in apartment five, I’m glad you’re happy to have moved into a new apartment, but no: I do not want to have a beer with you. I do not want to have a nude sleepover. I do not want to make you breakfast, lunch or dinner, no matter how many lap dances you promise to give me. I do not need you to serenade me through the walls at 1am. And no, I have no interest in letting you take me on a date. Sincerely, Magnolia Allen

They say revenge is a dish best served cold. I’d had four years to stew on what Daria Followhill did to me...now my heart was completely iced. I took her first kiss. She took the only thing I loved. I was poor. She was rich. The good thing about circumstances? They can change. Fast. Now, I’m her parents’ latest shiny project. Her housemate. Her tormentor. The captain of the rival football team she hates so much. Yeah, baby girl, say it. I’m your foster brother. There’s a price to pay for ruining the only good thing in my life. She’s about to shell out some serious tears.

Summary
After losing his best friend to another guy, the notoriously too-confident Max Emory suddenly feels lost. He may have devastatingly good looks, an abundance of charm, and a claim to one of the biggest hotel empires around, but he has no ambition anymore. So when his fed-up friends decide they've had enough of his moping, they sign him up to be the next bachelor on the reality series Love Island. And between his pride and his forged signature on an ironclad contract, Max just can't say no.
Now he's stranded in paradise with 24 women, one terrifying goat, and Becca - the breathtaking barista who already turned him down back home. The closer Max gets to Becca, the more determined he becomes to win her over. As she gets to know him better, things start heating up. But is Becca really after Max's heart - or is she after the cash prize she could claim once the cameras stop rolling?

Another hilarious performance
Every once in a while all the stars align and magic happens. That is what The Consequence series and Amy McFadden & Nick Podehl have going on.
Max is my favorite Consequence character. I love his verbal diarrhea and in this book we get to see his softer side as well. Amidst all the hilarity of a dating game show we see Max fall in love and it was amazing. While the story line may be predictable, no one could predict the antics of The Consequence characters. Every single minute is full oh highly entertaining comedy.

if only bachelor shows had max
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Absolutely, this book had me laughing the entire time. It was such a sweet story, one that as an easy listen that made you feel good.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Consequence of Revenge?
Two words...goat and gecko. The fact of the matter is, it was hilarious. And the way max interacted with the crew of the show...honestly there were so many memorable moments it's really hard to choose.
What does Amy McFadden and Nick Podehl bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Nick Podehl is amazing. I don't think listening to this story would have been near as good with any other narrator. He has this way of bringing out the goofiness of all the characters that made it so easy to fall in love and laugh. Amy McFadden is another reason. She conveys emotion so well, she sucks you in and makes you feel it too.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Annie and Max`s final date on the show. I don't want to give anything away, but what he tells her will make you fall in love.
Any additional comments?
I wish there were guys like Max on those bachelor shows, hilarious, honest, scared ;) I would actually watch them if they did. I love feel good stories that mAke you laugh and I've never cracked up out loud while listening to a book like I did with this one. It's a real light and feel good story that will have you laughing for days when you think of it. I'm sure people could nitpick it if they were so inclined but honestly, it would be grasping at straws to find something. Critics tend to be harsh, I've overlooked books with a bad reviews then later went back and read them and found them to be good. This story definitely can hold its own.

4 The Consequence of Revenge Stars
I enjoyed the heck out of book 1… But book 2 WAS FABULOUS!!!!
I love it, I laughed out loud. I snorted people I DON’T SNORT!
Max is so freaking humours; I can’t even tell you how funny I thought the whole Goat thing was haha. And it was to funny that all the friends got there Revenge on good ole boy Max.
Becca is sweet and cute and funny, she is perfect for Max she totally had the witty banter going. She was is equal and I loved that.
The reality show part was good and all but I could have been happy without all that.
And the narration!! I swear it’s PERFECT for these characters! Loved it.
I can’t wait for the next book!
*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

Hard pass and a DNF - Great writer though!
DNF - 20% Audible
The constant over the top shenanigans plus the voice of the MC was a combination that I just couldn't stomach. Rachel is a very talented author and I really like a bunch of her other stories but this series is not for me.
If you also don't like this series, read some of her other books before looking for other authors as she really is a good writer!

Just not my thing
I was really excited to start this book. The description was interesting and I never listened to a bachelor themed romance before. The concept of this was a little ridiculous and unrealistic. The characters were also way over dramatic and unrealistic as well. It almost felt like the book was trying too hard to be funny and ultimately missed the mark in my opinion. The narration was the shining star on this book though.

Rachel Van Dyken Never Disappoints/Comedy Gold
I love Rachel Van Dyken's version of comedy. Her characters are funny and sweet. I also have a clumsy streak like poor Jason and a joyuos streak for hilarious theatric revenge like Max. I feel really awful for poor Reed in certain parts. Very funny.

Hilarious and Nick Podehl is awesome
I'm a huge fan of the author and this series is one of the major reasons why. Even better, this story centers around Max who is just the heart of the series. Egotistical but with a heart of slightly tarnished gold, he has some of the best lines of any character is any rom-comedy. His constant humor, wit, (over)confidence and, well, his heart, just speak to me. I loved him in the first book and I loved him even more in this book.
Nick Podehl, is amazing. Becca is great too, witty with hilarious retorts. And something this author is amazing at is an ensemble romantic comedy. The supporting cast and how they play off each other is genius. So many funny parts to this book, the setting of which is a play off of "the Bachelor". Be forewarned, the type of humor is slapstick and sometimes, you just have to roll your eyes at the incredible silliness of what's happening. But it doesn't matter because all the characters are so likable and fun and you root for the hero and the heroine to achieve their HEA.

The Consequences of Revenge
After the fiasco that Max caused at Jason’s wedding, the many Grandma incidents that he continues to inflict of Reid, and his lack of direction since graduation Max’s friends and brother decide to send him on a dating show. They claim it’s to help him figure out what he wants to do with life, but they each find a way to may the situation worse for Max at every opportunity.
I really love this series. It’s absolutely hilarious. Max is off the wall ridiculous with some of the things he says and does but you just can’t help getting wrapped up into his charm. Becca was a great balance to Max. She’s fun enough to play along with his randomness but level headed enough not to cause more problems.
The audio by Any McFadden and Nick Podehl was great. The characters voices matched them well.
