I absolutely loved listening to Kate Mulgrew bring Kathryn Janeway to life again after recently watching the Star Trek Voyager series for the first time.

Una McCormack deserves big kudos for this as she captures this well-beloved character and captain with crystal clear accuracy, first with the account of Janeway's home and family life, later extending into her experiences at the Star Fleet Academy and her first commissions about star ships before she took up her position of Captain aboard Voyager.

In this autobiography one learns about Kathryn Janeway not only as one of Star Trek's best known and best loved characters, but also as a daughter, sister, aunt, partner, friend, mentor and leader. She is human, first and foremost, and with all her admirable qualities that mark her as exceptional she is also prone to weaknesses and imperfections and a number of regrets along the way.

Fans will probably love this, and I know I will most probably go back for another listen before too much time has passed. An excellent, compelling, addictive listen - I can't recommend this highly enough to fans of Star Trek in general, or Voyager in particular.

Getting Kate Mulgrew to narrate this was genius and the story is excellent. Those things they have added to the story from Voyager fit perfectly and the tone and style of writing is just what you would expect from Kathryn Janeway. I am not a big trekkie but have always enjoyed the show. I loved this book!

Kate has such a wonderful reading voice, it’s like being sat with that favourite aunt with all the best stories. Janeway is a gem of Starfleet whose story goes well beyond the series.
As a lifelong fan, it was perfect.

Just delightful

I absolutely loved this audiobook! The closure it brings to Voyager and her crew, that the TV show did not, is worth it a 1000 times over. My only gripe is that I wish the 2nd half of the book lasted longer.

I say second half because the first half, almost exactly half, is on Janeway's pre-Voyager life. The longevity of the first half however is warranted, and is detailed and enthralling. I wish the 2nd half had more detail and was longer; in comparison to the first half, it felt brief.

Having said that, it was an incredible journey and I will forever be grateful for the closure it brings! Thoroughly recommended.

Fantastic! If a little brief.
