Great accompaniment to the new show

The story before Star Trek : Picard, this book fills in the gaps regarding the Romulan relief mission, who Raffie and Elnor are and how they came into Picard’s life and more. As always, Robert Petkoff’s performance is first rate.

Space Filler

Fills in a whole load of blank spaces that happens before Star Trek Picard, so it becomes a lot more understandable about why Picard has left Star Fleet

great intro to the Picard TV series

This explains a lot about the run up to the Picard TV series.

The series starts with the androids running amok and killing all on the mars shipyards. this explains how them robots came into existence and introduces us to the characters.

A great listen for any Picard fans.

Trektastic

This is a great book that bridges Nemesis and the start of the Picard TV series. A must read.

Enhances the Picard series

The Picard TV series for me was...okay on first watch. However this book fills in the gaps, adds much-needed context and has the time to establish relationships, such as the one between Raffi and Picard. The end result is that I was able to rewatch Picard and get a lot more out of it. The synth attack particularly becomes the jarring event that costs Starfleet their soul, costs lives and impacts the survivors, not just a few seconds of CGI fever dream.

Engage

Story is good, shows how even the best intentions can go wrong. How a man of principle, can mis judge the situation, and be come trapped by politics. This is what happens to captain/admiral Pichard . The story flows well,is easy to follow and listen to. I found it easy to take up where I left off in the story,at any time. I will be getting the rest of the Pichard series of Audible books.

Epic tragedy of high ideals undermined by banality

Very well told story, very well narrated and an all too believable lapse of the high standards of a civilization by everyday compromises and perhaps something more sinister.

Most of the character voices were convincing, but I think the narrator needs to research the pronunciation of Hagia Sophia.
