Unusual tale of success
- By J. Carter on 23-12-15
Summary
The secrets of creative thinking by a lecturer at the world-famous St. Martin's College of Art who has spent a lifetime researching innovative thinkers.
A scuba-diving company faces bankruptcy because sharks have infested the area. Solution? Open the world's first extreme diving school.
The Art of Creative Thinking reveals how we can transform ourselves, our businesses, and our society through a deeper understanding of human creativity. Rod Judkins, of the world-famous St. Martin's College of Art, has studied successful creative thinkers from every walk of life throughout history. Drawing on an extraordinary range of reference points - from the Dada manifesto to Nobel Prize-winning economists, from Andy Warhol's studio to Einstein's desk - he distills a lifetime's expertise into a succinct, surprising book that will inspire you to think more confidently and creatively.
You'll realise why you should be happy when your train is cancelled; meet the most successful class in educational history (in which every single student won a Nobel prize); discover why graphic nudity during public speaking can be both a hindrance and surprisingly persuasive; and learn why, in the 21st century, it's technically illegal to be as good as Michelangelo.
Be stubborn about compromise. Plan to have more accidents. Be mature enough to be childish. Contradict yourself more often. Discover the art of creative thinking.

Intelligent, thought provoking fun.
I very much enjoyed this book as it was thought provoking and inspiring all at the same time.
The book doesn't take itself too seriously but the life lesson it is teaching has already affect my family life!
As my wife had decided to leave a dead end stressful job in an office to pursue her lives dream of becoming a makeup artist. She was wavering but just listening to one short chapter made her realise her decision was indeed the right one. And made me decide to do more to help my wife fulfil her dream.
life after all is about discovering happiness in whatever form that may be.

good book doesn't quite work as audio book
content of the book is good though it is more 87 tips or ideas. where this fails is that at the end of each chapter (idea) it gives a good further reading chapter to go.to (like the old fantasy books when you pick and option), this trips it up in this format as you tend to listen in a more linear fashion. get the book to flick rather than the audio if your looking to purchase you'll benefit from it

Fantastically thought provoking!
As someone who doesn't identify as remotely creative I was a bit sceptical about reading this book at first but thought it was time to push my comfort boundaries a bit! I can honestly say this is probably the best book I have ever read and has given me a totally new perspective on life and how to be a creative problem solver.
This book is absolutely unique and the author has done an incredible job at cutting the book up into small bitesize interesting easy to remember points whilst ensuring the book is littered with interesting stories to back this up! Give this book a read - I promise it won't disappoint and might lead to something spectacular!

Absolutely brilliant
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes,and have done so already. Simple, directive, good ancedotes, and it works!
Who was your favorite character and why?
Not really applicable, but I liked the idea of students working a route regardless of where it takes them, and the process of developing a Soap in Dubai. There are many great anecdotes of how people have connected to their creativity throughout the book.
What does Phil Fox bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
It is read very well.
If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
"Mad, fun, and absolutely bonkers: unleashing your creativity"
Any additional comments?
