ok, some worth acting on

There is some useful tips. a lot of it is interviews with artists who made it and they sure have some interesting insights but some of it is a bit pompous

Inspiring

I've been pursuing art for over 20 years, and found this so helpful and hopeful. I see so many artists struggling with finding their voice today, and highly recommend this read/listen to any creative at any stage in their artistic journey. I believe it will answer questions. Help one realize and discover how very simple it is to find one's own voice as an artist. Beautifully full of thinking for the creative.

Great Book

This book expanded my horizon as an artist. It also encouraged me to paint freely and be accessible to making mistakes during the process. I highly recommend you read this .

A Very Good, Informative book for artists

No matter where you’re currently at in your own art journey, this book provides some great insight from a successful artist who has walked the walk. My only disappointment is that it’s not read by the writer. I always feel a greater connection when hearing it directly from the author. Just my own preference.

Almost perfect...

I really enjoyed this book. It goes straight to the point and is easygoing to go along with. The narrator voice is soft and warm. However what i found really annoying about this book is that the chapters don’t show the name of the artist interviewed and I had trouble find them on internet to see their work and understand better the subject. I couldn’t find a couple of those artists and it felt frustrating... despite of it, I believe this book is a must for every artist! 💗

This is a good one!

I have been a fan of Congdon’s work for years, but I was pleased to find this title on Audible. The author fearlessly describes the one subject that it seems artists don’t allow themselves to speak about. I have been thinking about this topic for years, because I have been loathe to commit to one style or subject matter. Congdon helps cut through the mythology about artistic voice and also charts a course to help you uncover it. Great stuff!

This book works for singers too

I am a singer and this book has great tips that can also help me find my artistic voice. In my mind the water colors and painting mediums that she spoke of were like vibrato frequencies and belting verses falsetto or even wether I use the major or minor scale to sing original songs. The book will be helpful to those who are more focused on the answer than the question and you will become more aware of who you really are when you allow yourself to do some of the suggestions in the book.
