Summary

Welcome to the third volume of Tales from the Weird by one of England's top cult writers on the supernatural - Tom Slemen. In this disturbing but thought-provoking book of real-life paranormal nightmares which are set in places ranging from Liverpool to Los Angeles, Alaska to Australia, New York to New Brighton, you will explore some probing questions such as:

  • What demonic child murderer took the bones out of his victims and tied their limbs in knots?
  • Was the Biblical Tree of Knowledge once found in New York's Central Park?
  • What lies behind the eerie reports of ghostly cities seen across the world from Alaska to the Australian Outback?
  • What eerie force whisked a Welsh antiques dealer off the face of the earth in a street crowded with tourists?
  • Who is the sinister Green Man, and why does he visit bedrooms with deadly gifts on Halloween?
  • Who - or what - was the grotesque mimic which tried to rape a foreign exchange student in France?
  • What was the black mass of nothingness which stalked a woman during the New York Blackout?
  • What happened to the lady who received the chilling warning: Dead at 43...?
  • What happened to the boy who found that his entire family had been replaced by creepy robot-like impersonators which then chased him across a city in England?
  • What happened to the method actor who wanted to see the fabled Fourth Wall?
  • What was behind the demonic computer game which overlapped into reality and ended with the stabbing of a Brooklyn teenager?
  • What was the fate of the depraved English millionaire who decided to conjure up the Devil during a high class orgy?
  • What's the dark story behind the heart-stopping haunting known as the Wee Willie Winkie stalker? And why was an innocent teenage girl targeted by the knife-wielding apparition?

Lots of freaky tales!

This audiobook had mixed tales of weird, freaky, informative and was downright interesting and different.
I’m gonna need more! It’s mostly based in the 1 city but does dip into original tales that link, it does that so well, local lore and believed tales from people who went through them.
The narrator as always Nigel Peever keeps the atmosphere of the tales going, extra spooky when needed too! A very creepy background laugh...shudder!
Excellent

Horror personified

Do not listen to this book with headphones on I guarantee you will get creeped out. Nigel Peever makes the stories come alive and with the added background sounds it gets scary quickly. These stories are well written and descriptive with tales that will give you nightmares. If you love horror and getting a good scare I highly recommend this book just don't listen to it in complete darkness with headphones.
I received this audio book upon my and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review because I really enjoyed reading this book of Horror tales.

More Weird Tales

This is the third edition of the Tales of the Weird series by author Tom Slemen. If you have read his fascinating Haunted Liverpool series, you have an idea of what to expect. Timeslips, weird creatures, haunted paintings and more await you. You definitely will not see these stories anywhere else. Be warned, his books are highly addicting. I read this book using immersion reading while listening to the audiobook version. It was brilliantly narrated by the wonderful Nigel Peever. Another great read, extensively researched by Tom Slemen.

Tales of the Unexplained

The stories in this book remind me of Unsolved Mysteries, X-Files, or other programs that feature mysteries case files. The narrator was absolutely brilliant. I found the stories to be only so-so, mainly because weird occurrences keep happening again and again, but nothing is ever really resolved or explained. The writer's intention may be to let the reader/listener fill in the blanks. If so, then this may just not be my cup of tea.

I was given a free copy of this audiobook in exchange for a fair review.

horrible narrative

too bad i found out too late the book was non returnable. the narrator fumbled it. he runs out of air near end of sentence. also adds strange sounds that drown out his voice? if these books are non returnable, Amazon better start screening their books. this book was better as a read @ $5.00.
