Nigel Peever’s excellent narration and fantastic production skills is what kept me listening. If I would have had to read the book then I probably would have abandoned it around half way through due to the story having a strong start but then began slipping as it went on, It felt like huge chunks of Adam’s life (the main protagonist) were missed and no explanation as to how he got from one part of his life to another.
Nevertheless, it was Nigel’s measured narration and believable characterisations that held my interest and kept with with it until the end.

Another triumph from Nigel

Adam had a very challenging childhood with a promiscuous, uncaring mother, weak & sensitive father, surrounded by a supernatural environment. His one saving grace was that he grew up to be a talented musician. But the baneful acts of his past soon catch up to him.

Due to his selfish personality, adult Adam wasn't a character I cared for. I felt the story was a bit patchy where the author didn't always provide enough information to pull the story together, and the storyline went back and forth a fair bit. I appreciated the narration and special sound effects throughout the audiobook.

A dark, intriguing, psychological horror story, brilliantly narrated by Nigel Peever.
Absolutely fantastic.

A review copy of this book was sent to me by the narrator. All of the above opinions are my own.

Fantastic.

I was given this book for an honest review.

I did not finish this book after 10 chapters. I neither liked the story or the narrator's style.

There was too much drama in Adam's life with too many disjointed themes - homophobia, bullying, dysfunctional family, malevolent talking doll, mysterious deaths etc.

I also found the British narrator's style distracting with the sound effects and being overly dramatic at times.

Adam's childhood too traumatic for me!
