In Haunted Liverpool 34, cult author Tom Slemen documents some strange beings, including faceless terrors, moving statues, real-life vampires, shape-shifting entities, and time-slips. In this audiobook, you will not listen to the usual lame and hackneyed worn-out stories of ghosts; you will listen to original stories concerning the Lost House of Sefton Park, the terrifying visitor to a 24-hour supermarket in the wee small hours who spread terror among the staff with the macabre contents of his holdall.

Story
Running parallel to the conventional history of Liverpool ... there is an unseen seam of supernatural stories that have been largely ignored by the strait-laced historians,' says Torn Slemen, who is, of course, fascinated by this other history and no subject matter is too strange or too terrifying to merit his scrutiny. While some stories may prove to be nothing more than urban myths, many turn out to be only too spine-chillingly true.

Story
It's 24 December 1999. Byron Easy, a poverty-stricken poet, half-cut and suicidal, sits on a stationary train at King's Cross waiting to depart. He has in his lap a bin-liner containing his remaining worldly goods - an empty bottle of red wine, a few books, a handful of crumpled banknotes. As the journey commences he conjures memories of the recent past, of his rollercoaster London life, and, most distressingly, of Mandy - his half-Spanish, Amazonian wife - in an attempt to make sense of his predicament.

The book includes haunting ghost stories from Scotland. In this section we touch upon phantom soldiers, ghostly lovers, mist-shrouded kilted apparitions, murderous ministers, and even a disappearing bank in a time slip. We have kept away from previously published or documented stories which is why you will not hear about Tam O'Shanter by Burns or the ghost from Shakespeare's Scottish play.

love Tom Siemens books but.....
most annoying voice from narrative. drives you mad as he puts emphasis on random words throughout and his timing all over the place. Can't focus on the stories because it drives you bonkers.

More Weird Gems
This is the second book in the Tales of the Weird series. Author Tom Slemen has more unusual tales to thrill, delight and chill you. These tales come from around the world, unlike the Haunted Liverpool series. Truth is often stranger than fiction, this book helps to reinforce that. The tales were fascinating as usual. I read this book using immersion reading. R k Meyer does a decent job with the narration, but his dry reading lacks the emotion this book needs. I prefer the wonderful Nigel Peever, who handles accents so well. This type of book should be narrated by a Brit.

If Art Bell made you feel skeptical, this will make you feel insulted
At what point does fanciful stop being entertaining? The author sets out to find this threshold, then dives far, far beneath it. Even worse is the narrator's grade school "Read for emphasis, Bobby" style. Emphasizing every fourth word confounds the listener's attempts to make sense of each sentence. Worth noting is that the author is also the publisher. No doubt the editor as well.
