Publisher's Summary

Tales of horror from one of the masters of the genre. Peter Meredith delivers stories that will keep you devouring them one after another. From the Pen - a gift that just keeps on killing, to "The Eyes in the Storm" - a beast that feeds on those who dare to go out when nature is at its cruelest, to "The Haunting at Red Feathers" - a true haunting that has the young couple trapped in the woods with a demonic presence, begging: "Don't let the night catch me here!"

Seven tales in all come from the butcher's block and that includes "The Witch: Jillybean in the Undead World".

What is more terrifying than a mad woman who is snatching up the children of Rippling, Missouri in order to breed the perfect zombie? A seven-year-old girl with fly-away brown hair and a gift for destruction.

"why do you writers do it?"

why do you change the narrator, it can only be BASIL SANDS, sorry to this narrator but in this case he ruins the story (the witch) completely.
    very disappointed.

    "Dull, unimaginative storytelling."

The reader was good but the material was so thin and dry Morgan Freeman couldn't have saved it.
It's not often I give up a book but three-quarters of the way through it I was done.

    Story
"this book was lacking his usual greatness"

I usually give 5 stars across the board for Peter Meredith books, but this one was lacking. The only stories that where any good are the witch and the pen. the other stories were stupid. he should have just put the witch story at the beginning of his last apocalypse book because this seemed like just a way to make extra money without effort. his other books are awesome though

    Story
"He dipped his toe in, and the lake turned to gold."

He tried a horror anthology and hit a home run. Plus there's Jillybean. Thank you very much for what are surprisingly good horror stories. Now I know where M.Night found his "split" inspiration.
Dear Hollywood, please turn this book into a movie, NO CHANGES.

Not nearly as good without Basil Sands' voice...The mostly flat reading style killed the story.

"A Little Slow in Places But Still a Good Read"
    Any additional comments?

I really liked the story lines in this book, but I found the pace a little slow. The stories were interesting, and I wanted to keep listening to find out what happened next, but I frequently wanted what happened next to happen a little quicker. On a side note, I found the criticism of the character Jen Kidd to be amusing. I have personally known women like her, so I know that the character is as real as you can get.
