Summary

The Mage-King of Mars is dead. Chaos rocks Olympus Mons. A new monarch must rise - but she does not stand alone!

As the celebration of the victory at Legatus cools, a shuttle accident claims the lives of the Mage-King of Mars and his heir. The Crown and the Mountain fall to the Mage-King’s daughter, 16-year-old Kiera Alexander. She recalls Damien Montgomery, her father’s First Hand, to stand as her Lord Regent.

The pair are unprepared to govern but are thrust into the heart of Protectorate politics as the Mage-King had left behind everything from an unfinished war to an incomplete new Constitution.

Even as they get a handle on the list Kiera’s father left them, Damien is grimly certain of one thing: when it comes to the deaths of Kings, he doesn’t believe in accidents.

predictable

This entire entry in the book series was predictable

Overall It was enjoyable

I’ve noticed over this authors career in his later books he tends to insert little SJW Powerpoints
The popes a woman
The senator from earth is a token black man
The Mail general that screws up is replaced by a woman most of the warship captains are women

It’s so ham handed sometimes it’s almost laughable like an editor is going back and doing it after the fact
If it’s the author he should stop doing it if it’s the editor then they should stop doing it

If I want to hear political message i’ll go watch CNN or Fox News

Light Space Opera SCIFI

Another fast passed and good addition to the series. Like eating potato chips, my biggest complaint is that they are too short and the story is over too soon. This book and the series are light but fun Space Opera SCIFI. Lots of action and intrigue, but light on the science.

it was a bit short but very good

while the story and narration have been good like the rest of this 10 book series the story at a bit over 8 hours was very short for a entire credit from audible when many books are 10 to 30 hours

Good but feels to set up...

This feels both to for told and way to rushed... Less then over book 5 and 6 we were told both the Mountain was vulnerable twice the fleet flag ships and The Hands and a conspiracy has put Damon as Acting King of Mars. When in chapter one why did Both Dezmands both get in a shuttle of any kind at once. They should have been on a Battleship.

A book about reclaiming Lagotess and tracking down The mastermind

This book needed to have something like DMA 3 should have the chose do the sacrifice to save his son or the man who can save them all and his daughter Damon.

Micheal is just way to good in this to fast for needing training wheels with Damion to start.

Bummer...

Except for the first chapter, the rest of the book was a detective story filled with the forensic discussion! I really like the previous books, especially at the very beginning, but the author seems to have lost the "magic" that was so enjoyable to read in previous books!

I may not purchase any more books from this series!

Another great book from an amazing author.

Glynn Stewart is a fun author to spend time with. His books are fast paced, well thought out and just plain fun and this book was no exception.
Jeffrey Kafer is a narrator who manages to make the story both easy to listen to and fun. This book was well written and well presented!
