About this listen

A starfighter squadron driven to desertion. Hunted by friends and enemies alike. With one final hope for a new beginning.

The last reward Kira Demirci expected for heroism in a time of war was to spend the rest of her life dodging assassins—but when her government betrays her as part of their surrender, she and her comrades flee the star system of Apollo to the edge of civilized space.

The Syntactic Cluster is disorganized, disunified, and in desperate need of the nova fighters Kira smuggled out of Apollo with her. With an entire squadron supposed to follow in her wake, it falls to her to build a new home for her comrades.

But their enemy's reach may be longer than her worst nightmares—and even her new friends may not be all that they appear....

A high class space opera from an author who always delivers. Kira Demirci, war hero, ace pilot never expected to be sold out by her own government in the peace treaty, now running to the fringe to set up a new home for any of the squadron who survive the assassins and enemy black ops. Signing on as a mercenary in the Kings service she battles to survive and make a new life for her.people. Great story, strong characters, well paced of intense action and very human interactions. Loved it. Narration is perfect .

Left rather cold by this book. That my attention all too easily wandered says it all really. Won’t be listening to the rest. Pity.

Unconvincing

Glynn Stewart's stories come never quite alive. I want to like them, they are crafted well enough, but even over the span of a series I never 'feel' the characters come to life. I am comparing it to someone like Craig Alanson. Nice effort but an eternal bronze medal in my opinion.

solidly flat
