Summary

Winner of the Carnegie Prize 2011

‘War,’ says the Mayor, ‘at last.’ Three armies march on New Prentisstown, each one intent on destroying the others. Todd and Viola are caught in the middle, with no chance of escape. As the battles commence, how can they hope to stop the fighting? How can there ever be peace when they’re so hopelessly outnumbered? And if war makes monsters of men, what terrible choices await? But then a third voice breaks into the battle, one bent on revenge….

The electrifying finale to the award-winning Chaos Walking trilogy, Monsters of Men is a heart-stopping novel about power, survival, and the devastating realities of war.

Really impressive ending and great narration.

Again, the narration is fantastic by humphrey bower, he is the best I've come across for narration, each character immediately clear.

The best description I can come up with for this trilogy is suggest you imagine the 'His Dark Materials' trilogy combined with the tone of 'The Road'.
That description is intended as a compliment as I enjoyed both of those immensely. Heartily recommend this trilogy.

Great performance

This narrator is excellent! He slips in and out of accents and voices confidently and seems to be immersed in the story he's telling.

The book itself was flagging a bit by the end. Too many moments when the baddie could kill the goodie or vice versa but the writer wants to spin it out for no plausible reason other than - apparently - to load in more tragedy, more cruelty and more impossible-dilemma-porn. The trilogy as a whole is very good and very original, even though it could use some shortening. Definitely recommended as a performance.

Awesome!

This is a fantastic climax to the three book story and was so well read that I'll be seeking more by both this author and voice actor.

Truly amazing

I loved this book so much it made me cry, laugh and be horrified by what happened to all the characters.
The amazingly well written characters of all the people we love, I love.
All I can say is that if anyone anywhere ever asks for a book to read I will always say this trilogy of great, heart warming books.

Outstanding

a childhood favourite of mine, just relived it through audiobook and honestly there isn't a better written or performed story out there. Absolutely enthralling and gripping start to end, characters come to life and i hurt and love with them. You will fall in love with these books just like I did 10 years ago.

Prentiss for President

The final part in a trilogy that got better and better throughout.

Bower's narration is fantastic, in particular his characterisation of Mayor Prentiss.
