Summary

Survival in Man’s Second Dark Age

Three hundred years after the fall of society, the last fragments of civilization are clinging to life, living in the ruins of the ancient cities in nearly-medieval conditions. Technology has been reduced to legend, monsters roam the forests, and fear reigns supreme. But that is just the beginning...

The wind-borne spores are spreading, disfiguring men and twisting their minds, turning them into creatures that threaten to destroy the townships. Among the townsfolk, political and the religious, dissension is spreading.

Through it all, a mother must protect her son...

A different book to what I'm used to. I got into the world the writers set. The characters are easy to get to know. I'll be looking into their other work

cant wait for the next one

When I first started listening I thought I’d bought something unsuitable for myself, because it sounded as if it was set far back in the past. I carried in listening and got more and more hooked on the story. I liked the narrator too and I’m gonna get book 2 now.

Got better as it went on

Overall well developed characters, but plot is somewhat unbelievable in terms of what remnants of a modern world would turn into in a couple of centuries. Story is slowish to get going, and the clergy bit annoyed me personally.
Not a fan of the narrator at all since I’d mostly listen to R. C. Bray and similar voices. This book is narrated by a voice so dull it ruins the story a little. That being said, might pick up the next one when there’s nothing else to listen to since I’m kinda curious where it’s going - hopefully some more action in following stories.

Not for me

FIRST BOOK A LITTLE DIFFICULT TO GET STUCK INTO AT THE BEGINING BUT CERTAINLY WORTH IT. I LIKED THE WAY THE CHAPTERS WORKED, KEPT YOU INVOLVED WITH THE CHARACTERS. WILL THE STORY CONTINUE?

UNUSUAL
