Summary

Random House presents the audiobook edition of How to Grow a Baby and Push It Out by Clemmie Hooper, read by the author. Everything you wanted to know but were too embarrassed to ask - a guide to pregnancy and birth straight from the midwife's mouth.

Mum to four little girls and midwife to many, Clemmie Hooper wants to share her knowledge, wisdom and stories about pregnancy, birth and mothering young children that aren't so widely talked about - straight from the midwife's mouth. From how to prevent tearing during birth to what you really need in your labour bag, Clemmie reveals everything pregnant women and new mums need to know with a good dose of humour and wit.

Disappointing.

If you are a first time parent, have a partner, live in London, you are having a completely normal pregnancy and have the time and money to go on spa breaks then this book might help you.

An honest, practical and really lovely way to find out about pregnancy & birth

I am a first time expectant mum full of questions and unknowns.
I don’t remember how it was recommended to me but now highly recommend it to anyone who is pregnant. So so interesting , practical and helpful in explaining this huge life event. Just finished now and really sorry to not have Clemmys soothing voice to accompany me home in the car !

Loads of helpful real life stories

Really enjoyed this for its real life stories from mums and the general underlying theme that we're all different so no two pregnancies and births are the same. I also picked up loads of tips and tricks on the birth prep side of things. It's quite long but well worth a listen. It's helped me feel more in control of my final 10 weeks.

Grating voice and annoying way of covering topics

Some interesting points but are definitely covered better in other books. Her voice was extremely annoying which distracted from the material, and the topics of the book feel ruined by the weird “I’m so down to earth and don’t ram confusing science down your throat” way it’s been articulated.

Informative and easy to listen to

Clemmie covers every topic surrounding pregnancy and birth, the additional comments from her husband give a insightful male perspective. I laughed and smiled and thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook

Great Overview With Warm Tone

I found this audiobook really useful as a broad introduction to pregnancy and birth. The author reads the book and takes a lovely, friendly warm tone. At times, I felt that the structure of the book wasn't well suited to audio as it chops about a bit (I presume because there are little 'one pagers' in the book that end up getting interspersed at slightly wrong moments in the audio) but this only detracted slightly.

First time mum to be, and this book is awesome.

Loved it. I'm now 29 weeks and this book has been so awesome yo listen to whilst doing odd jobs around the house. It's full of great information whilst being fun and sharing real mum stories. Highly recommend.
