Summary

Some things are better off forgotten.

Sheriff Hayden Duke was born on the Pilgrim, and he expects to die on the Pilgrim, like his father, and his father before him.

That's the way things are on a generation starship centuries from home. He's never questioned it. Never thought about it. And why bother? Access points to the ship's controls are sealed, the systems that guide her automated and out of reach. It isn't perfect, but he has all he needs to be content.

Until a malfunction forces his engineer wife to the edge of the habitable zone to inspect the damage.

Until she contacts him, breathless and terrified, to tell him she found a body, and it doesn't belong to anyone on board.

Until he arrives at the scene and discovers both his wife and the body are gone.

The only clue? A bloody handprint beneath a hatch that hasn't opened in hundreds of years.

Until now.

LOL what a romp

This book is so bad it reminds me of Snakes On A Plane, or maybe Sharknado. It borrows shamelessly from every sci-fi classic, past and present. I’m torn whether or not to buy the sequel, but it’s so bad it’s good.

Long winded

Good story but toooo long winded and the narrator was awful, he has a really annoying voice especially when he raised the tone or changed to another character and way too loud when trying to express anger. I was tempted on a few occasions just to give up on the whole experience. Stuck it out but really it was a good story spoilt. Won’t be listening to the next book which is a pity as I wanted to find out what happens but I could listen to the narrator for that long again.

Brilliant! A must if you’re a sci fi/thriller fan

Loved this, recommended by the RC Bray fan page and I was gripped from the beginning. Well written, great story, well read, love Sheriff Duke and listened to it in record time. On to book two already. Just Get It!

Struggled

Excellent storyline, fast paced with an interesting world that develops. Struggled with narrators character acting.

Fantastic, full of twists.

Really liked this book, as soon as I finished it I started the next one. A thriller set in space full of twists and turns with a main character that is an old school tough guy. Fantastic from start to finish and very well read.

Generation Ship - Interesting Concepts

What an interesting story concept with twists and turns. This doesn't get a 5 because some parts of the plot are a bit tenuous such as the protagonist's reasons for doing things. Perhaps all will become clear in the later parts. Saying that, the author isn't afraid to grapple with some wild concepts. The narrator is a hoot, talking softly during slower parts and sounding frantic during the action scenes. I soon got into his narrating style.
