Story
The enemy is coming. The enemy is already here. For years they’ve prepared, plotted, and planned. For years they’ve waited to strike from above and below. Earth is under siege. The enemy covers the landscape. Proxima is unharmed. But that’s about to change. No armies can stop this menace, and no defenses can slow the advance. We are scattered and isolated. We are ignorant and weak. No help is coming. No help remains...or does it? Old heroes will sacrifice everything. New heroes will rise.

Mysterious gateways are appearing throughout the universe, bridging violent civilizations, leading to war, and sowing chaos. While some species succumb to the pandemonium, the Chut’un forge an unholy symbiotic relationship—The Order—with red Europhids, a vast hive intelligence populating the universe’s far reaches. Desiring structure and fearing the unknown, they cull everything opposed to their plan, including the Europhids’ blue counterparts, carrying out a galactic genocide until only one blue Europhid remains...inside Moses Montgomery, a.k.a. Story
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

Summary
Two hundred years ago, aliens invaded Earth. A violent war followed. The enemy won. Some of us escaped, most of us didn’t.
On Proxima they flourished - the invasion forgotten. On Earth we floundered - the horror began.
Their world is advanced, peaceful, and secure. Our world is broken, savage, and overrun.
A new invasion is coming. A hunger that has swallowed half the universe.
They don’t care which planet we live on. They want to end us all. But where there is life, there is hope. And where there is hope, there are heroes.
Sheriff. Marine. Pilot. Engineer. Centurion. Clone. This time, vengeance will be ours.

M. R. Forbes is a genius!
Mr Forbes, you're a sadistic, cunning, sneaky SOB! Loved the book! Was glued to it from start to finish! The cliffhanger had me shouting at my phone! I just hope that book 2 comes out soon or I'll be tearing my beard out!
To the Lord Bray! You did it again dude! Another reason why I love hearing you narrate! You know how to create the right atmosphere, how to draw us in to a crazy psychotic situation! Sir, you're a legend!

A Great...."read"... I found the story a little bit complex to come to grips with, but it got so much easier as it's parts and bits started to come together. I am moving on to the next book in this series in the keen hope of being just as entertained by it as much as I was by this one.. Well Done !!

Next Level! must listen
I've always liked books narrated by RC Bray, the man is an Audible legend and brings every book to life for anyone with a vivid imagination and even for those without. I got bored writing reviews as all I could say about each book I listen to, that he narrated, was that it was amazing in one form or anotherther - so I stopped writing reviews until now... M.R Forbes has created a story with depth, of not just universe he creates, but the characters that are intertwined in this multi faceted story. This is a story that has multiple angles, is not too complex to follow, but with a number of strong characters and groups at play coming from different directions to converge into what can only be a fantastic series about to unfold. I can not wait for the next installment and it better be read by Mr RC Bray!

false information
picked up this book form audible. States that it's book 1. In reality book 4 in a series It is book 1 in the next series arch. Would have been nice if there had been something to state that. The story leaves the listener confused by half information from the previous three books. so only reader's of the series would understand the flow of the book.

Great story
To understand this book series - it really helps to read / listen to The Forgotten, The Lost, and the Sheriff Duke stories. Then you'll have the back story on Nathan Stacker, Sheriff Duke, Proxima, The Axon, The Hunger, Portals, The Trust, The Others, Pilgrim, Deliverance, and all the other stuff made mention of in casual conversation or in passing by the author.
The world MT Forbes has created is very intricate. There are lots of moving parts and perspective. it's one of my favorite and I hunger (sic) for more.

NAILED IT
M R Forbes has created a deep universe punctuated with contrasting light made by various characters. Invasion is the beginning of the culmination of various series which I have been reading for years and I have to say it was all worth it/ The invasion series makes all of the other books feel like primers for something larger, as if I was reading for years just for this series. If you are a fan of all things Sci-fi but prefer well written and thought out series and good writing you would be an idiot not to try this!
