Summary

Available in audio first, this hot, hilarious stand-alone will keep you wildly entertained!

Welcome to Mystic Bayou, a tiny town hidden in the swamp where shape-shifters, vampires, witches, and dragons live alongside humans. The town formed around the mysterious energy rift in the bayou, which helps keep the town’s magic in balance. But lately the rift has been widening and destabilizing - threatening to send the town’s magical population into chaos.

Energy witch Danica Teel has been sent by the League to figure out what’s going on, with the help of bear-shifter Mayor Zed. While working on the case, Zed falls head over paws for Dani, but she’s reluctant to engage in anything beyond a roll in his cave. Dani’s family is counting on her to get the job done, and she has no time for distractions. But when an ominous presence begins stalking Dani through the bayou, they’ll need to band together to make it out alive.

Not as good as first book

I have to say I was sadly disappointed by this book. I had been really looking forward to this as I usually love Molly Harper's books, and the first book of this series was great, but this fell short for me. I didn't really like Danica as a character, I found her rather tiresome and annoying, which meant I didn't really care about her at all, and the story itself was rather slow and lacklustre. The book was over halfway through before it felt like something actually happened, then it went back to just dragging along for a while before anything happened again. A real shame as, like I said, I'm a huge fan of Molly Harper and this could have been great, but it just wasn't.

Love this but now I need more

I so enjoyed this book and once again, as with my 1st reading of the last book I'm left bereft needing another book set in this universe

Enjoyable characters that make you want more

Having listened to and enjoyed the first book from this series I thought it only right to listen to the second. Whilst I think the story plot of the first was better than this one as far as stand alone stories go I still enjoyed this one and think it sets up for a bigger future plot well. The narrators are great and make the characters enjoyable. I loved Zed in the first story so it was good to see plenty of him in this one.

Loving this series!

Fans of Kresley Cole will love Molly Harper. I love Mystic Bayou and it's residents. This is the second Mystic Bayou book I have listened to.

I look forward to reading or listening to the whole series.
The narration is brilliant.
Thank you.

Its OK but not one of Molly's best

This is the second book in the Mystic Bayou series and its not as good as the first.

The story is fairly typical but a bit weaker than usual and also seems to be lacking some of the humour I usually expect.
If you are a fan of Molly's books you will probably enjoy it but its definitely not one of her best, its more of a novella than a full novel as well so poor value for money.

I'm rarely a fan of multiple narrators - unless they are always used for different voices so had Jonathan always done the male voices and Amanda the female it would be OK but doing alternating chapters depending on who the main character is doesn't work for me - it would have been better to just keep Amanda for the whole book.

Summary if you are a real Molly Harper fan you will probably be OK with it but if you are trying Molly for the first time don't start with the Mystic Bayou series.

Performance.

both man and woman should be talking together in every chapter. Not nam and woman talking as both characters, that makes it sound weird.

A disappointing follow-up novel

Having enjoyed listening to the first novel in the Mystic Bayou series, I had been looking forward to this one. The narrating was good (as before) and I found the story fairly entertaining, right up until the unforgivably corny "big reveal " towards the end. A wholly uninspired conclusion, which ruined the whole book for me.

Too damn short

The two narrators really worked in this case. Zed is so adorable. I loved his relationship with his mom.

Adorable story

Molly always writes such cute and funny books. I always look forward to her new releases. The book is a continuation of the series and keeps all the original characters involved. I always hate when authors steer away from the characters in previous books. I like to know what happens to everyone, not just new characters. Molly really makes the story come alive. You can always close your eyes and picture each person and see the town. She does such a great job with just enough descriptive information to make a picture, but not enough to make you need to skip forward. Lol. Great job, and adorable story Molly!!

Another Stellar Listen!

Molly Harper and Amanda Ronconi are the most perfect combination! Jonathan Davis is N excellent addition to the alchemy of Harper and Ronconi.

Molly Harpers humor and willingness to let her characters be imperfect, humorous and genuine makes her books a great go to time and time again. I can’t wait until the next time she lets us go to Mystic Bayou!

Love this series ...

I’m soooooo sad the 3rd book is not out. I even think I know who our next heroine will be ;) This story was even more fun and adorable than Jill and Bael’s story. Zeb has a lazy sexy vibe and an Dani was intelligent and sassy. Again I was not overwhelmed by the paranormal-ness of this little world MH has created. It’s just enough para-facts to get legit and allow the town, the quirky characters, the pies and the love to shine. There is also not and over abundance of waxing poetic about para-hotness. The hero’s are of course tall and dreamy but you fall in love with their wit and determination the banter is really enjoyable between all the characters. The mystery continues from book one into this and was left open enough to move into another novel. But it’s not a cliff hanger. The mystery unfolds quietly almost in this one kinda an unimportant character it seems until it’s boom front and center and your like omg all the neatly placed little clues have just come together. Can’t wait for more I’m really enjoying these.
Again the audio was very well done the many characters voices and accents preformed by just two readers was really something lots of talent and a quality recording.

Laughed out loud several times

This is the second installment of the Mystic Bayou series. Harper evolved the story well incorporating characters from the first book. Loved the authentic romance. The characters direct approach to romance and commitment was appreciated greatly. No coy miss crippled by insecurities. I don't find stories driven by constant turmoil derived from pain and regret entertaining. Enjoyed the narration by David and Ronconi.

Even better than the first

I went into this book unsure of how much I would like it. I liked the first book, but not as much as some of Molly Harper's other work. This book, however, hooked me quickly and has me looking forward to the rest of the series. There seems to be a set up for a larger underlying plot that is much different from the other Molly Harper books I have read. I am here for it!
The two narrator format did bother me at first, but I adjusted by the end. Amanda Ronconi's portions remain my favorite- she brings a bright energy that is an instant mood-booster. Davis has a warm voice too, and it works well once I am adjusted to it.
I can not wait until more books in this series come out!

Love it

Amanda Ronconi is already my favorite narrator. Add Jonathan Davis to the list! I love his voice and range. Man can tell a story. Molly Harper is one of my favorite authors. I'm ready for the next book, please.

Mystic in more ways than one

The second book equally riveting, wonderfully read, and cant wait for the next one! Sincerely, The ongoing story of this community I hope will become as well rounded and full of love and unique characters as the Half Moon Hollow series.
Being from the swampy lowlands of Florida myself I can see the visuals better in Molly Harper's descriptions!
Both narrator's ability to bring the words to life were excellent and I love Zed's narration of deep growliness best!
Looking forward to the next book already!

Great Book, not so much on the Narration

As usual, I love this book ❤️. However, not as usual, I do not like the narration. First and foremost, Amanda Ronconi is masterful as always. However the male narrator, Jonathan Davis, I was not so entertained by 😏. I am sure in a different genre, he is wonderful, it just wasn’t working for me. I would like to have heard Amanda do the entire book, she has always done a great job on Molly’s other books.

Still worth the buy, but I will admit I am having a hard time listening to Mr Davis....
