Summary

Contemporary relationships are in a state of rapid evolution. These changes can and should empower people with the opportunity to develop partnerships based on their own sexualities, understandings, and agreements. This makes it possible to create what Kenneth Haslam, founder of the Kinsey Institute's Polyamory Archive, has called designer relationships. The possibilities are limitless, and thinking about a partnership as something people can craft allows for flexibility and change. Relationships can open and close or have varying degrees and kinds of openness as circumstances demand. In the context of a designer relationship, decisions are made mutually, consciously, and deliberately. Best-selling authors and relationship experts Patricia Johnson and Mark A. Michaels are exemplars of this life choice, and have studied polyamory for over 20 years.

This book breaks it all down!

A very thorough breakdown of what consensual Non-monogamy relationships are. Very well researched it provided extra insights that haven't been included in other open relationship books.

A good primer for anyone to listen to :)

A useful introduction to a broader range of relationship possibilities and a good way to begin reframing the way you see and approach relationships in a less rigid way that could prevent many misconceptions that doom relationships to excess drama and even failure right from the start.

It was okay not the best

It was good for what it was, but didn't really like the writing style. I think there could less about their personal story

It’s perfect for someone

Just not me. I thought the content was going to be more story and examples. I did enjoy the readers voice. Help to make the information more interesting at moment.

If you enjoy textbooks, this is for you...

This book is packed full of information. Especially suited for those with little to no knowledge of alternative lifestyles. I would suggest taking detailed notes and multiple breaks to allow time to process what you just read and even dig deeper into anything from your notes that seemed unclear or prompts you to learn more. So, in a nutshell... Extremely informative, a little long winded, and more like a textbook than a novel.

Good for a clinical understanding

I found it good but complex language saying what we mostly know but never thought how to put it in words. I found it is written for one doctor explaining to anothet doctor what poly is all about. I think the author could risk giving a little more personal opinion . I enjoyed it but didnt learn as much as I expected. I might be a little demanding that way so consider that when reading the comment
