Fact interwoven with Fiction
Elizabeth Armistad's survival and success during the bawdy Georgian period is interestingly imagined and well told. The book has motivated me to delve into the history of Charles Fox and his dissolute friends.

Unusual women in history, a rags to riches story.
This story is based on a real woman in history. With very few facts other than names and dates, the authors have done an amazing job bringing Elizabeth Armistead back to life, giving us a very authinic feeling story. This rags to riches story of a young woman working her way up the corporate latter, so to speek, to the top of her field as cortasian in 18th century England, could easily have been seedy and dark, but instead becomes a story of survival and hope. Elizabeth uses the only things she has avalible to her, her witts, her intelligence, and her body, not only to survive but to thrive, find lasting friendships and eventually love, and finally a hard won happy ending.

Amazing!
One knows it’s an amazing novel when one can’t stop thinking about it. This author obviously did her homework. What a fascinating heroine and such an eye opener on how women become prostitutes in that day. Loved the happy ending but still a bit poignant. What a unique and wonderful novel!
