Summary

There isn't a monster D'Angelo Kumar can't destroy or a crisis he can't manage, until he meets Angel Bai. The insane attraction he feels toward the sexy waiter is unwelcome, because D'Angelo doesn't have room in his life for relationships. A solitary path is the only option for a man like him, but fighting his growing feelings for Angel may be the first battle he can't win.

Angel's abilities extend beyond memorizing the menu at D'Angelo's favorite Italian restaurant, but he knows better than to trust anyone with his secret. When a vision reveals that D'Angelo's life is in danger, he will risk everything to save him. The only thing scarier than monsters and demons to Angel is never knowing D'Angelo's touch.

To say the demon hunter is reluctant to form a partnership with the psychic is putting it mildly, but D'Angelo needs every advantage he can get when the world's very existence is threatened. As darkness looms nearer, D'Angelo and Angel's unexplainable connection grows stronger. For a chance at happiness, the two men will need to call upon unlikely allies for an epic showdown between good and evil.

Contains mature themes.

Brought the book to life.

I love the narrator its an instant buy for me with him, so for him to narrator circle of Darkness it was a given for me.
That said, I have made that same mistake, bought books because they are narrated no mistake his time. I loved this as much as I was reading it.
I even chuckled to hear the same things read in ways I do in my mind when reading. Loved it, hope Joel does book two also his Lorcan is all kinds of sexy..
Brilliant, another amazing combination from both these Authors and Joel narrating can't go wrong.

there is a good story in here somewhere

I always love listening to Joel Leslie narration so I found it easy to listen to, my issue is with the story. The premise is good, a monster hunter is on a mission to stop a demon summoning which if completed threats to destroy the world, he bumps into a psychic who has predicted his death and now must work together to save humanity; and they fall in love. I like the premise but the story keeps taking detours to explain about everything, how different monster society's work from vampire to werewolf, how hunters are trained, how they hid this from normal people, everyones back story, most item and spell used and so on. This constant explaining really breaks the flow of the story its kinda jarring at times as it really doesn't feel natural to the flow of the story; its just and exposition dump that happens frequently and a lot which gets boring and repetitive quick.

Something else I didn't like is that the both main protagonist talk a lot about sex, like a lot a lot and not in a consistent manner. First the hunter is all 'no we can't be together because my worlds is too harsh for you' then the next chapter (with not much happening in my opinion that would change it) the hunters like 'I need him in my life, I can't live without him' then they talk about waiting till the demons been dealt with to see if they have a future afterwards so the sex means something, to literally the next sentence is 'no we need to have sex when we get back home as we can't wait'. there doesn't seem to be much of a relationship between them except that they think each other is hot and they wanna have sex, thats it really. its kind of explain by them being soul mates which felt sort of out of the blue. I understand why the author put it in there and the importance of it to the hunter especially with his up bringing but I don't know I just felt like it didn't need to be in the story, that they could of focused more on building a proper relationship between the two.

there's a few other nit picks but overall there a good story here, somewhere under all the explanations and sex talk.

Painfully generic

Generic fantasy romance =/

I felt like this entire book was balancing off one generic fantasy troupe after the next. It wasn't incredibly inventive or new or exciting. I never expect every book to reinvent the wheel but its especially annoying when you read a book that is so copy/paste of every fantasy romance book that you nearly feel like you've read it before.

Everything was so stereotypical of what you'd expect from these characters. The 2 main characters are exactly what you'd expect, a brooding dark mysterious mean bad boy and a virginal mysterious good boy. It alludes to them being mysterious but they arnt at all when they are copies of fantasy character troupes you've seen before.

The world building is sorta boring, the tension is not believable and the action just never felt natural. I feel like the book was trying its best to tell a story but couldn't decide on the best approach so it settled on relying on readers to understand troupes.

I feel bad for not liking this book but its so painfully mediocre that i am not at all interested in continuing in this series.

Circle of Darkness: Genesis Circle Series, Book 1
By Aimee Nicole Walker, Nicholas Bella
Narrated by Joel Leslie
9h 38m
Narrator score🎧 ; it's Joel leslie, come on what can I say if not, perfection?
As always each character become alive in your head you could see Angel and D'angelo in your head

Level of steam🔥: it took time to get to the hot parts.... but it was kinda hot when it did .... nothing more to say about that ....

Level of anxiety and sadness0😱😢: the book isn't sad at all ... it's a good fantasy story.... with Demon's, Vampires and Hunters

The book itself📖: for those of you who like fantasy, you will probably love the story as much as I did. the story was good .....and very solid.... so to speak. the fantasy world was based on the real world.... and sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. in this case it did. it wasn't a very complex, very deep , or complicated fantasy world. it was very strict and very easy to understand. and though I love the complicated stories very much. I do like a simple story ones in a while, as well. and this story just worked very very well.
Can't wait for the second book .... we already can understand about how the book will be .... so all we need to do is wait.

Totally on Fire!

Angel and D'Angelo's story was HOT, HOT, HOT, to say the least. I felt in love with this paranormal story. I love vampires, witches, ghost, and the list goes one. Put all of these elements together with an excellent plot and excellent characters and I'm in love. This story was great, along with the narration. I so highly recommend this amazing story! Enjoy!

Great new paranormal series with fab narration!

While both books 1 and 2 are full of magic and adventure, I felt book 1 was a bit more humorous and full of snark.

Book 1 also took the time to do the world building the entire series will rest upon so it does move a bit slower than the second book.

I can’t say I really liked D’Angelo much - he was mostly a pompous ass for the majority of the book – but he does come around and he grew on me a little.

I really didn’t like the name game that the authors played here – I think choosing more distinct names would have made more sense but… that’s just my own taste.

Audio

Joel does his usual awesome job of narrating this story which is chock full of characters with unique backgrounds! I totally loved the ‘tude he gave D’Angelo and really made his voice match his personality as written by the authors. Terrific job and definitely the best way to enjoy this story.

Fun read

To me the story was interesting and an interesting twist to demon hunters. I enjoyed it. Although I’m still on the fence for the narrator. Don’t get me wrong, it was a good job....but

Artistic Trifecta

Nicholas, Aimee, and Joel come together to build another fantastical world. This tale was devoured over the course of a single day which is rare for me. Excellent storyline and characters that didn't always get along but managed to come together for the greater good.
