Publisher's Summary

The full-length, in-depth and intimate autobiography from Jenson Button, one of Britain's greatest ever racing drivers.

Jenson Button is one of the finest racing drivers of his generation. His 17 years in Formula One have seen him experience everything the sport has to offer, from nursing duff cars round the track to winning world championships and everything in between. Here, Jenson tells his full story for the first time in his own honest, intelligent and eloquent style - from growing up as part of a motor-racing-mad family under the guidance of his father, John, to arriving at Williams as a fresh-faced 20-year-old to being written off as a playboy, distracted by the luxurious trappings of his lifestyle, and his fight back to the very pinnacle of his sport.

Jenson's world championship victory for the unsponsored and unfancied Brawn GP team is one of the most extraordinary against-the-odds sports stories of the century. Jenson's book lifts the lid on the gilded and often hidden world of Formula One. He reveals his relationships with some of the biggest names in the sport - Lewis Hamilton, Michael Schumacher and Fernando Alonso - as well some of the most colourful characters, such as Bernie Ecclestone, Ron Dennis, Frank Williams and serial winner Ross Brawn.

Above all he puts you right inside the cockpit, in the driving seat, travelling at over 200 miles per hour, battling the fear of death, showing you what happens when it goes wrong at high speed and allowing you to experience the euphoria of crossing the line first.

    "Decent book, good performance but..."

...the narrator made a lot of pronunciation mistakes in drivers' names. Not a major problem, but it does pull the listener out of the story as it jars somewhat. Could have been easily avoided with a bit of prior research.

    "Great story, some dodgy pronunciations."

A great book that will appeal to Jenson Button fans and F1 enthusiasts alike.

The only Issue I have with this book is some really poor pronunciations of really well known F1 drivers. Please to the narrators of these audio books, do some research first please as it sounds so unprofessional when you’re just guessing and getting it completely wrong. It does spoil the story as you’re trying to imagine Jenson himself speaking the words only for him to mispronounce his team mates name for example. It’s only a small detail but it shouldn’t happen.

    "Excellent biography"

An excellent non controversial book. Best autobiography I have listed too in a while. Would have loved to have known more stuff about behind the scenes.

"Interesting insight in to a remarkable career"

Jenson Button is the second most experienced F1 driver of all time. It's very interesting to hear about his career and how it all started. particularly the relationship with his father, the journey that they went on together and how JB's desire to race changed after his father's death.
Narrator is clearly not an F1 fan and should have researched the pronunciation of drivers, teams, tracks and jargon more. Unfortunatley this was a constsnt irritation. Otherwise enjoyable.

    "Subject matter"

Having followed F1 for many years I was excited to hear that JB had written a book on his life history, this book would have been fantastic if I had read the hard copy, jack Hawkins should have researched F1 before agreeing to read this audiobook. He could not even pronounce the drivers or circuit names. Big let down for me. Subject content very good, narration very poor, would have been better if JB had read it himself.

    "Great book"

The story was brilliant, one of the better books I have read / listened to. As a formula one fan this is a must.

A little disappointed that Jenson didn’t read this himself, there are a few mispronunciations that annoyed me slightly, but other than that it is brilliant.

"Great listen but what are those pronunciations"

This a wonderful book that goes into detail in all the passes you want it to and lighter on the areas you would expect. John Button was such a part of Jenson's career and he has is place front and center in the book, as he should. But like many of the other listeners have noted the narrator's pronunciation of driver's name and places are different, not in a good way. Don't let this minor fault put you off however, it's a great read!

    "Excellent"

A fantastic and candid autobiography by one of the best and classiest F1 Champions. JB's story includes his childhood, introduction to racing and path to F1, his racecraft and the technical side of racing, the teams and teammates he raced with each season, the close relationship he had with his father, and much more. A must-read for all race fans.
