Reactive to Responsible

The problem with being a reactive parent no matter how extreme your reactivity is that the reactivity seems normal and even justified. More often than not, it’s far from normal and justified and in reality causes more harm then you might think or expect. If you have anger or are reactive then it’s really important to get that in control and this book provides many tips on how. Your child is not trying to make you angry they are just children so it’s important to understand why they act out, your triggers, and proper ways to deal with them.

I wish I had read this book years ago.

I wish I had read this book years ago. When my kids were little, there weren’t many resources available to parents to help with anger management. It just wasn’t talked about. Thankfully now it is.
Feeling angry and out of control is no fun. Nobody wants to be the angry person, nor do they want to have to deal with their misbehaving or angry kids.

The best way to avoid having angry outbursts is to learn to effectively deal with your own anger. Being the parent means you need to be able to regulate your own emotions so you can teach your child to do the same.

I know from experience that this is easier said than done, and that is why I liked this book! Not only is this book very motivating, it contains some excellent examples, tools and exercises. I learned how to make changes in my own mindset, and it is amazing how things around me have started to fall into place! Once you learn how to work past your own anger, you will be able to resolve with your kids peacefully.

This book is a must read for anyone who has children. We all want the best for our kids, and when we make ourselves the best version of us, we teach our kids how to be the best version of themselves as a consequence.

A must have!

I thought I had it all, but the one thing that overpowered me was being a parent. It is so hard to maintain your cool when you have to deal with kids' tantrums and power struggles. These would bring out the worst in any mother. After listening to this audiobook, I am so relieved. It feels like I am well-armed now to face my parental challenges. This book gives you a good understanding of parental anger and shows you how to spot your triggers. I have found the 'no-yelling and less anger checklist' very useful. I carry it with me around the house and tick it off as I go daily. I have found the techniques and resources in this audiobook very helpful. The aura around the home is very calm and peaceful as I now have a better understanding of my kids' behaviour and I am better able to manage my anger. This audiobook is a must-have for every parent.

Really useful book

I have never hit my children, but boy have I come close. I've shouted at them tons, and I justify that to myself as having to shout over them to make myself heard. But I know that ultimately this makes things worse. There is lots of good advice as well as tips and tricks to bring the volume down and not let it rise in the first place. Thoroughly recommend.

Eye opening for parents!!

I wholeheartedly endorse this book as an essential addition to the library of all first-time parents. It stands as a true "must-have," particularly for those whose primary language isn't English. The writing style ensures effortless comprehension, making it incredibly accessible.

The wealth of practical advice tailored to new parents is a standout feature. The author shares insights into what genuinely works, offering a reassuring guide through the challenges of early parenthood. Notably, I found the chapter on child development to be an enlightening highlight. It not only sheds light on the reasons behind the seemingly baffling behaviors of children but also provides a context that brings understanding to the edge-testing moments.

For anyone interested in parenting well

Our kids are always doing things that can easily cause us to fly off the handle. This book recognizes that. It helps you as a parent understand the things that trigger you and why they do. Then it helps you figure out your child's anger before providing parenting strategies that do not leave everyone in your house reeling. I found the book really practical, especially the suggestions on how to keep your cool and not yell at your kids.
