Pretty good, worth a listen

Loved the book, not as good as his System Apocalypse series, which you should go and read now. But I recommend this 100% the gift idea is cool and can't wait to hear more about others gifts. Some places it dose jump but it's not to much of a problem.

overall a good book and seems to get better with each one

Complete lack of direction

Compared to other books of this genre, this story has no direction or goal that the protagonist is moving towards. He was a miner and now he's an adventurer, that is all.

We learn next to nothing about his development during the mines or why he left other than 'because he wanted to' and kind of just cruises along dungeon diving with people fighting for him because he knows how to heal.

Some of the characters and world building are interesting, It just seemed to me that after the first 12 hours or so of listening that I didn't actually care. The lack of direction and motive was not there.

This is definitely one of the weaker works that Tao wong has made compared to his others. I'm still a fan, just not this.

surprisingly enjoyable

I was a little skeptical of this story before I started it, there was just something about the blurb that left me on the fench...
well if you have the same reservations I am here to reassure you.
the gift is rarely used as a driving plot device in the story. it's always there and we aren't allowed to forget out, but this is a full and complete story regardless of if this had been here. the characters are great, the world interesting and seems alive even when the MC is not looking at it...
and the story is a lot of fun. i really enjoyed my time in Brad and you should give it a chance too...

Eric Martin did a adequate job even if this is not a genre he is familiar with. He had a few things in the start of book 1 (like describing 3-7 of a weapon damage as 3 minus 7) but by book 2 their were gone and even the ones I noticed wasn't horrible or pull me out of it.

Very good It is unfortunate

It is very good it is a shame that the other books aren’t in a omnibus I’d still buy them separate if the audible app was so rubbish and had a play list or que function but they haven’t improved the app in the last 3 years so I have lost hope

Easy to follow and jump into again.

Was alot better than i thought i tv would be so with just 15 hours. It had a bit of everything. More straight forward in following one person and his friends. Without Political stuff, The days of a working adventurer and how he started out.

As fun as it gets

The three books in this series follows the travails of Daniel, ex-miner starting a new life as a beginning adventurer. He begins moving to a small town which has appropriately a beginner dungeon. He also has a unique healing gift, which allows him to appropriately enough heal but at the cost of his memories and experiences. This allows him to stand out from the rest, but also not over powering them so much that anything is easy. And nothing really seems to be easy.

Along the way he will make friends and comrades, and experience more than his share of danger and fun. This is totally worthwhile. If you enjoy gamelit, or l you just used to love D&D, this book is absolutely the first thing you should read

Could have been better?

I wrote the header as a question only because the book was not fantastically written.

That is not to say the plot was bad but instead, my focus was easy to drift away to something other than listening. I would still suggest you give it a listen.

I will purchase future books in the series to follow the characters.

I hope the writing will be a little better. Which I have no doubt it will be.

Great series!

Good story and narration!

The MC is a fighter / healer hybrid who has to give up memories and experience in order to heal. the series follows the adventures of him and his party as they level up and explore new experiences.

Eric does a good job with the narration.

I love the series!

Good story. Narration like local news..

I bought the box set. Even skipping through chapters, I couldn't get through the first book.
The storyline and character development were well done. The narrator sounds like a small town news caster. I would, and will, enjoy reading it on kindle but I cannot listen to it. Sorry Mr. Wong.

No plot!

Everybody knows the standard fiction story structure: character and setting development--> major problem -->rising action--> solution--> resolution. In the first three books there wasn't. single major problem. It felt like character development for 15 hours! Do yourself a favor and read System Apocalypse by Two Wong. That is a quality book series and it actually has a plot!

It could have been better

Several incorrect details in that story really annoy me. The author can't seem to keep up with things that he has happen in the story. Plus the ending was pretty lame. Not the worst story I have listened to. Buy I wish the author would have at least kept the count of the levels correct.

If You Like Isekai Anime, You'll Enjoy This

The narrator takes some getting used to, but once you get past that, it's an enjoyable story. Don't expect a literary masterpiece or a complex plot. This is a pretty fairly straightforward dungeon crawling story. I love this genre of anime so getting it in a format that I could listen to while working on projects or in the car was great. I will continue onto book 4.

Great Narration but...

The Narrator was top notch but the story itself unbelievably slow and boring. Very little going on and when it did is was very slow and boring. the relationships seem so flat and placid that even the main character didn't know he was in a relationship and cheated(instantly became a dirtbag and lost any interest) 90% of the book is like a boring slice of life novel..

good fun series

it's not going to be in my top ten, but it's a funny, well written, fast progressing story line and made for a nice listen. leaves off perfectly if you want to leave it at the there books or if you want to continue the story... down side is how short the other books are. outside of the bundle makes it hard to want to keep going.
