John Connolly is the most amazing writer. I prefer reading to audio for his books, as I have loved his books since I accidentally picked up his first book when it came out and anxiously await his new books. I read the books over and over, but though I like audio, for Mr Connolly's work I need the book. I have in my head what each character sounds like, so listening to a narrator portray Angel, Louis and of course Charlie's voices is strange. This was not written in the first person, as it usually is.
I would highly recommend this to anyone that enjoys a well written, brilliantly plotted unusual book. I think to get the best from them, you have to start at the beginning of the Charlie Parker series. It unfolds better than any series I have read, and I am a bibliophile!

Perfect narration, Thrilling story. One of the best of the series. As always with the Charlie Parker series it helps to know who's who and their background. Well worth the effort though as its a superbly written crime series with supernatural elements.

This book is definitely in my top 3 of the Charlie Parker series. From start to finish I was hooked and didn't want it to end.

John Connolly just keeps getting better and better. Great story from the opening pages - kept me enthralled and wanting it to go on 'forever.' There were some humorous touches that I don't recall in previous books, which made me laugh out loud...each main character is fully developed and unique, and the blend is beautifully crafted into one homogenous whole...write on, Mr Connolly...can't wait for the next adventure.
