About this listen

A riveting thriller of corporate intrigue and cutthroat competition between American and Japanese business interests.

On the forty-fifth floor of the Nakamoto tower in downtown Los Angeles - the new American headquarters of the immense Japanese conglomerate - a grand opening celebration is in full swing.

On the forty-sixth floor, in an empty conference room, the corpse of a beautiful young woman is discovered.

The investigation immediately becomes a headlong chase through a twisting maze of industrial intrigue, a no-holds-barred conflict in which control of a vital American technology is the fiercely coveted prize - and in which the Japanese saying "business is war" takes on a terrifying reality.

Rising Sun was made into a film, starring Sean Connery.

"A grand maze of plot twists... Crichton's gift for spinning a timely yarn is going to be enough, once again, to serve a current tenant of the bestseller list with an eviction notice." - New York Daily News

Too much MAGA morality that’s not been bourne out by time. The story and the narrative suffered for all the speech making that was completely unnecessary and very distracting if not totally false.

Anti Japanese

With this book you need to replace “Japan” with “China” and “Japanese” with “Chinese” to make it relevant with the current times, it’s a amazing insight on Japans panicle and I think shortly after the book the country went into decline, apart from certain industries like cars & video games which is a shame because all Japanese products are amazing compared to to the cheap Chinese crap we get now a days, not sure why it went into decline anyway it’s a great insight into the past on how Japan almost took over or how people felt that, I have seen the film but I was very young and can’t recall it so much, really looking forward to watching the film again, this book is well researched, enjoy

Great book from Crichton

A good book made excellent by the narrator, really enjoyed the interesting story. The moralisation on Japan is an opinion I guess now you would substitute China
