Summary

Alone and bereft, Louisa makes the fateful decision to follow her sister into the 17th century. But, the best laid plans often go awry and she finds herself on the wrong continent, and in the wrong year. Louisa must cross the Atlantic to get to Virginia, hoping that Valerie is still there in 1620, and face the uncertainty of her situation as she makes the dangerous journey to the New World.

Meanwhile, Valerie is facing troubles of her own. She must discover the truth about the men in her family in order to save her marriage and solve a possible murder.

Will the two sisters reunite, or will they pass like ships in the night, never knowing how close they had come to finding each other?

Louisa and Kit

Louisa is drifting after losing both her sister and her parents. Her decade long boyfriend has taken up a job away from her and it doesn't even scare her. Yes they loved eachother, but the flame wasn't burning anymore. The only thing she wants is to have her sister back as she can and will not accept her to be dead. Then one day she discovers a painting of a woman and her two children and recognises her beautiful sister. There are two paintings and both have the same clock in it. She realises where she has seen this clock before and decides to take a leap of faith. Meanwhile in Virginia, Valerie and Alec are building their life away from England. There are struggles in the new world, but Valerie has adapted to this era and she and Alec are still deeply in love. When Louisa goes back in time she arrives 15 years later as Valerie and learns she has to travel back to America. Only this time there is no plane to catch but a boat and it will take months before she can go look for her sister, if she will ever find her. Things on the ship are heazerdous but when the captain starts to woo her and promises to protect her, she might lose her heart and freedom. And so this amazing time traveling story continues.
