I am EXTREMELY impressed by the level of thorough information in the book. The author covers everything! The author took us on a journey and reminded us of the climate changes that have occurred in the world, which have also affected and disrupted the supply chain of some of our foods. Most of us experienced the "empty shelves" phenomenon during the pandemic. This alone should be enough to encourage us all to take more of an active part in naturally gathering some of the foods we eat.

I appreciate the author providing some warning signs of which items are not edible and what t look for in terms of making sure we don't make the mistake of eating something we're not supposed to eat. The author also warns us of the importance of educating ourselves regarding the various types of plants and which are best for consumption. In addition, we must also only take what we need because we don't want to pillage or waste natural resources. It takes great wisdom and knowledge to forage effectively and safely.

I also love that there is an attachment to the audiobook. This will be a tremendous resource as we begin our foraging journey! 2 thumbs up! I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will recommend it to others.

it's quite a few months ago when i first read this book. it's actually very interesting, this book turned into my hiking mate. whenever i go deep into the woods, this is the only book i must carry. it adds a lot more fun for the road. although i read it many times already, sometimes i still could get the plants wrong. some are easier to find, and there are a couple of them i still haven't seen yet.

best hiking mate

Lewis has created an excellent resource for beginner foragers. Even as an Audible her descriptive language enabled me to truly vision the plants she was referring to and after looking over all the free resources that are included in the audiobook I was spot on. Like the author says, I’ll cross reference and maybe read another one before actually picking and eating my wild plants. But just after this one book I feel so much more aware during my nature walks about the plants I see. It’s opened my eyes to a whole new realm of possibilities and has enriched my time with my kids too. Seeing them with their baskets asking if they can pick those or not. Highly recommend this book!

This is a really helpful and fun book. I’ve always been curious about edible plants, but didn’t know where to start. This book made it easy. The pictures are clear, and the descriptions help you feel comfortable about identifying plants safely. The language was simple and gave useful tips on where to find each plant and how to use it. It made me want to go outside and explore. If you’re interested in wild food or just love nature, this book is a great guide to start with.

A great guide!
