I am of African descent. Growing up, my father told me stories of how his grandfather would have remedies for nearly every illness from the forest or the plants around us. My father retained a little bit of that knowledge and I wish I had tapped into it. My fear was always that I'd get it wrong. I love that this book made me feel like it's still possible and doable and that even though there is that risk, there is also a risk of succeeding. The book is so comprehensive too. There is a chapter to forage in winter, for example and another one with recipes to make with wild edibles. I'm so looking forward to reclaiming an old part of my history thanks to this book!
