His projects have twice been the recipient of BAFTA Awards, in online games and interactive categories. Carl has been involved with two start-up companies and has ended up with an odd mixture of creative, commercial and technical skills. Louise Brealey is an English stage and screen actress and writer. She is best known for playing Molly Hooper in the BBC's Sherlock. Her other television work includes Clique (BBC/Amazon), A Discovery of Witches (SKY), David Mitchell and Robert Webb’s sitcom Back (Big Talk/Channel Four) and Gomorrah (SKY Atlantic).

I had not heard of author and the style was not one I would normally choose. However it was complex and kept me listening to the point I sat in my car after journeys end. I loved the fierce main character and the story within a story concept. Gosh, loved it.

I totally disagree with any negative reviews of this novel. Having got bored with many so-called psychological thrillers I have moved on to trying something more physical. This first read has confirmed that I made the right decision. I thoroughly enjoyed it and found the characters both interesting and believable and the story showed a great deal of research into the workings of the police force and the arts. I only wish there were more from Mr Goodman and will be looking out for more terrific narrations from Ms Brealey. Thank you both. You got me through a very tedious hospital stay.

I'm not too far into this book but am enjoying the story but the narrator is dreadful....completely ruining it. Reluctant to return this title because it's a good story.

This book didn’t need to be so complicated, too many threads to what should and could have been a very good story. The main character had so many things going on that no one could have survived it was just daft. The narrator was robotic and stilted and just annoying.
Such a shame. A different narrator and the (basically good) story toned down so it wasn’t beyond credibility and this would have easily scored a 4

The book was good but narration dreadful and really spoilt it for me. There was no difference in tone or the various characters which was very confusing

Great story line, gripping and interesting. Some of the descriptions of the murders were quite gory though! Was initially unsure about the narrator as she sounded quite bored while reading, but got used to it as the book went on. Ended up thoroughly enjoying the story.

I really struggled with the narration.

This was definitely one of the better crime / thriller books I’ve listened to here, but the robotic narration was like listening to one of those never ending phone menu systems. For hours.

That said, I did get used to it and once I’d conquered its soporific effects I thoroughly enjoyed the book. Now attempting the next one in the series.

If I hadn’t read a review where someone said to speed up the book I couldn’t have listened. Truly awful wooden narrator - reading rather than narrating. A shame because the story was fantastic, I give the story 5/5
