About this listen

After being dumped by his long-term boyfriend for being overweight, Henry Beckett decides to make some drastic changes. In a vain attempt at getting his boyfriend back, Henry does the most absurdly frightening thing he can think of.

He joins a gym.

Reed Henske is a personal trainer who isn't sure he'll ever be ready to date again. He's sick of guys who are only interested in the perfect body image, never seeing him for who he really is.

As Reed tortures Henry with things like diet and exercise, Henry enamors Reed with recipes and laughter. As the friendship lines start to blur, Henry is convinced there's no way Thor-like Reed could ever be interested in a guy like him.

Reed just has to convince Henry that life isn't about reaching your ideal bodyweight. It's about finding your perfect counterweight.

Contains mature themes.

Ironically, I read this just after Christmas and it got me back into my own diet and exercise program.
However, the story itself was a great read. It's basically about a man who is feeling pretty down on himself after being discarded by his boyfriend because of his body weight. He has his world turned around when he meets his new health trainer, Reed. The narrator isn't new to me, and his performance was top notch as usual.

I enjoyed this one...

Having read this first I could not put it down I looked for it in Audio form and again listened straight through. Joel Lesley did not disappoint have listened to him before a fabulous narrator.

An exceptional read and an excellent Audio book.

What did you like most about The Weight of It All?

The hilarious story brought to life, this is a fantastic story and the audio is brilliant, just be careful of listening to it in public as you will without doubt laugh out loud and have to endure the strange looks from other people

Who was your favorite character and why?

It has to be Henry, he goes through so many emotions and you go along them with him, not to mention the fact he is so funny.

Which character – as performed by Joel Leslie – was your favourite?

Henry as above.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Henry gets off the treadmill for the first time and goes on the epilectal (no idea how to spell it).

Any additional comments?

I was not sure about the voice given to reed, however when I read it for the second time the voice was better and was happier with it, it certainly didn’t put me off at all. I can see myself listening to this book a number of times.

Even more amazing then the book.

this is my favourite audio book so far and I have just over 400. The author wrote it perfectly and Joel Leslie narrated it brilliantly, making me laugh so many times it's now my go to feel good book.
