He makes no attempt to hide that he desires Fortuna. And in exchange for her, he offers something irresistible. So Fortuna reluctantly leaves her safe existence behind to step back into a world of creatures and power.

Fortuna's entire life has changed. She has no idea how to balance her new responsibilities and who she used to be. There are hundreds of faeries in her head, her brother seems to have lost touch with reality, and a werewolf won’t leave her side. Maybe the utter lack of control is why her abilities seem to be changing as well. Then there’s Collith - enigmatic, beautiful, and infuriating.

Fortuna has made one too many sacrifices to protect the ones she loves. She no longer knows how to go about her day-to-day life like she’s normal. Like she’s not utterly destroyed. Just a glimpse of Ian O’Connell’s face causes panic attacks, and Collith isn’t much help, considering he’s fighting demons of his own. Among so much inner turmoil, Fortuna’s abilities are still changing. However weak she feels, she knows she’s getting stronger.

To protect the ones she loves, Fortuna has left behind everything familiar and dear. She can't let down her guard. She can't rest. She can't stop moving. Not if she doesn't want her ever-growing abilities to be used as a catalyst for a monster's entrance into the world. After everything she's been through, Fortuna thought she knew death. She believed herself well-acquainted with betrayal. Then, in her determination to keep surviving, she stumbles upon one more secret.

In the space of a single day, everything Fortuna thought she knew was exposed as lies and illusion. Alliances have shifted and roles are forever changed. And she now finds herself a prisoner in the Seelie Court. It is here that Fortuna learns the board for this game is even bigger than she believed. New players emerge from the shadows and the stakes are higher than ever before. There’s no time for pain or healing—just survival. At least, that’s what Fortuna thinks.
