En 1947 apareció en la revista Trabajos y Días un poema titulado "La barca nevada". Lo firmaba Carmiña Martín Gaite, y suponía el debut de quien buscaba aún su voz, e incluso su nombre. Luego se sucederían los libros en otros géneros, pero Carmen Martín Gaite mantuvo siempre su fidelidad a la poesía. Siguió escribiéndola —así lo demuestran sus cuadernos—, publicándola —con las ediciones ampliadas de A rachas— y recitándola, en cafés y centros culturales, en la grabación digirida por Alberto Pérez que aquí recuperamos.

Some of these exponents, as in our volume, were bestowed with the title of saint but some had the additional title of sant, swami or goswami. Broadly speaking, Bhakti poetry, as in Hinduism itself, is divided into ‘Nirguna’, the idea that the divine is formless as exampled by Kabir and ‘Saguna’, which interprets the divine as having physical form as captured by Mirabai.

For students of Middle English, Andrew and Waldron's The Poems of the Pearl Manuscript has been the key edition of the four Pearl poems for over 30 years. With the changing needs of today's students in mind, the editors produced a complete prose translation of the four poems - the best known of which is "Sir Gawain and the Green Knight". The near-literal translations are intended to facilitate understanding of the four poems - to lead readers to, rather than away from, the original texts.
