The narrative is based on the Titanomachia, or War of the Titans, and describes the aftermath of their fall to the Olympian Gods.

Aber dominiert wird dieser Briefroman von epischer Wortgewalt, mit der Hölderlin Gefühle zu Worten formt. Das ist keinem Autor deutscher Zuge in dieser Tiefe weder vor, noch nach ihm wieder gelungen. Hölderlin berührt damit jeden, der nach Zugang zu seinen Gefühlen sucht.
