Today we're in Judges 6:12, where the angel of the Lord speaks to Gideon and says, "The Lord is with you, mighty warrior." Even though Gideon saw himself as weak and unqualified, God called him by who He created him to become—not by how he saw himself.

Pastor Scot and Pastor Jason share how God often chooses ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary things. We all face fear, doubt, and moments when we feel inadequate, but God's presence changes everything. When we know that the Lord is with us, we can move forward with courage, knowing He will never leave us or forsake us.

This message reminds us that our identity is found in what God says about us, not in our past, our failures, or the opinions of others. Just as God called Gideon a mighty warrior before he ever stepped onto the battlefield, God calls us according to His purpose and His plan for our lives.

Today we’re in 1 Peter 1:18-19, and this episode is all about being redeemed from empty ways of living and thinking. The Bible says that we were not redeemed with temporary things like silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Jesus Christ.

Pastor Scot and Pastor Jason talk about how many people grow up believing they have to earn God’s love, earn forgiveness, or somehow become good enough to make it into heaven. That kind of thinking creates condemnation, fear, and exhaustion. But the good news of Jesus is that the price has already been paid.

This message is also a reminder that we do not have to remain trapped in the patterns handed down through our families. Maybe your family struggled with depression, addiction, poverty, insecurity, or the belief that certain things were simply not possible for people like you. But when you were born again, you received a new identity and a new Father. Your past and your family history do not have the final word.

Pastor Scot and Pastor Jason also point out that condemnation does not help us overcome our weaknesses. When we constantly label ourselves as bad, broken, or hopeless, we stay trapped in the very behavior we want to escape. Grace reminds us that we belong to God, that He placed good things inside of us, and that His Word is working to transform us.

If you have been carrying guilt, shame, or limiting beliefs passed down from previous generations, let this encourage you today. You have been redeemed. You are not defined by the mistakes in your past or the empty ways handed down to you. You are defined by what God says about you.

Today we’re in Romans 12:2, and this episode is all about renewing your mind and experiencing God’s will for your life. The Bible says, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” God wants us to experience His good and perfect will, but transformation begins when we stop copying the patterns of the world and start thinking according to His Word.

Pastor Scot and Pastor Jason talk about how the world has its own way of approaching relationships, success, marriage, forgiveness, and everyday life. The world often teaches us to take, compete, hold grudges, and put ourselves first. God’s way teaches us to give, love, forgive, encourage, and build others up. When we follow the Creator’s instructions, we experience life at a higher level.

This message is also a reminder that God’s Word is not about condemnation. Jesus loves us in the middle of our mistakes and helps us grow out of destructive patterns. Renewing your mind is a process. The angel told the shepherds, “You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” A manger was not simply a wooden box. It was a feeding place for animals, and that detail gives us a powerful picture of who Jesus came to be.

Pastor Scot and Pastor Jason talk about how Jesus is the Bread of Life. He is the Word made flesh, and just as food strengthens the physical body, God’s Word strengthens our spirit. Today we’re in Romans 12:20, and this episode is all about how to respond to people who hurt, oppose, or mistreat us. The Bible says, “If your enemy is hungry, feed him. If he is thirsty, give him a drink.” Instead of returning anger for anger, God calls us to respond with kindness, love, and generosity.

Pastor Scot and Pastor Holly talk about how our natural reaction is often to fight back. When someone spreads rumors, speaks negatively about us, or makes life difficult, we may feel justified in doing the same thing to them. But returning meanness for meanness only adds fuel to the fire and makes the situation worse.

This message is also a reminder that unkind people are often hurting people. Their behavior may reveal a deeper need for love, encouragement, acceptance, or hope. When we respond differently than they expect, we create an opportunity for their heart to change. Kindness can reach places that anger never will.

Good morning and welcome to Wake Up with Pastor Scot and Pastor Holly.

Today we’re in Luke 6:38, and this episode is all about the power of what we give. The Bible says, “Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over.” This principle goes far beyond money. It applies to love, kindness, grace, forgiveness, encouragement, peace, and everything else we release into the lives of others.

Pastor Scot and Pastor Holly talk about how life is like a garden. Whatever we plant will eventually produce a harvest. When we give kindness, love, and encouragement, those seeds begin growing in our homes and relationships. But the reverse is also true. When we give anger, criticism, judgment, or frustration, those seeds can grow quickly and create an atmosphere we never intended.

This message is also a reminder that negative seeds often seem to grow faster than positive ones. One harsh moment can immediately affect the atmosphere of a home, while rebuilding trust, peace, and connection can take time. But that does not mean the good seeds are not working. Stay consistent. Keep planting love. Keep giving grace. Keep showing up with the right attitude.

Pastor Scot and Pastor Holly also point out that the measure we use matters. If we give only a small amount of encouragement or affection, we should not be surprised when the harvest feels small. But when we show up with generosity, kindness, and a full heart, we create room for that same measure to return to us.

If you want to change the garden of your life, start by changing what you plant. Refuse to keep planting weeds. Give love, peace, forgiveness, patience, and encouragement generously. In time, you will look around and realize that the atmosphere of your home and relationships has completely changed.

Today we’re in Luke 4, and this episode is all about recognizing the right voice and answering the wrong voice with the Word of God. Before Jesus began His public ministry, the enemy came to tempt Him and tried to influence Him through questions, pressure, and deceptive thoughts.

Pastor Scot and Pastor Jason talk about how the enemy often attacks through the voice we hear in our minds. That voice may tell you that you are not smart enough, strong enough, qualified enough, or capable of doing what God has called you to do. But Jesus showed us exactly how to respond. Every time the enemy spoke, Jesus answered, “It is written.”

This message is also a reminder that we must capture every thought that does not agree with God’s Word. When a thought says you are weak, answer it with the truth that you are strong through Christ. When a thought says today will be terrible, remind yourself that this is the day the Lord has made. When fear and doubt begin asking questions, answer them with what God has already said.

Pastor Scot and Pastor Jason also point out that the enemy can twist Scripture and present part of the truth in a misleading way. That is why it is so important to know God’s Word for yourself. The sharper your sword becomes, the more prepared you are to recognize deception and stand firm in the truth.

If you are battling negative voices today, do not simply accept every thought that enters your mind. Capture it. Compare it with Scripture. Replace it with God’s truth. The more you hear His Word, the more clearly you will recognize His voice.
