Publisher's Summary

Acclaimed author of The Warrior Heir, Cinda Williams Chima delivers this riveting sequel - a VOYA Perfect 10 and a New York Public Library 2008 Book for the Teen Age.

Booted from one exclusive school to the next since his foster mom's death three years ago, 16-year-old Seph McCauley knows he's different. But he doesn't understand why he can summon menacing ravens, freeze summer ponds, and torch all he touches. And then Seph makes the mistake of trusting his new headmaster. If you like Harry Potter, you'll love Seph McCauley.

    "Good Book, Bad Reader"

I will have to borrow the rest of the books in this series from my local library. I really like the book!
It's the reader that terrible. He burps (yes, burps), spits, lisps, slurs, then he reads so fast the wordsruntogether, then well, he just stops, nothing, nada, dead air space. I guess the reader thinks these are dramatic pauses but they are tooo long and very abrupt.
But what I find the most annoying is the BIG gulping swallows.
I listen to audio book every day and find this to be the most annoying reader that I have found.

    "best series"

I regret delaying my download of these books because of the negative reviews regarding the narrator. There are some swallows, like one per book, and maybe he sounds serious, but it is a serious book. Overall I would say he is a better narrator than many other books I have downloaded here.

Now about the book, it is an exciting, stimulating story, far better than many of the others out there that are getting so much hype. I strongly recommend this series to anyone over the age of 9.

"If I didn't love this series..."

Dreadful - whoever edited this work did not actually LISTEN to the narrator. He smacks his lips and inhales audibly for EVERY breath. It is so distracting. I've struggled through the first part and have debated several times to stop listening and just re-read the actual novel (which I probably will). I wish she could have gotten Rebecca Monder (Seven Realms) or maybe Luke Daniels to read this lovely series. Read the book...it's much better in your head than listening to this narrator...too bad.

    "love this book"
What did you like best about Wizard Heir? What did you like least?

    The story

What other book might you compare Wizard Heir to and why?

    Percy Jackson

Would you be willing to try another one of Robert Ramirez’s performances?

    No

Do you think Wizard Heir needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

It is part of a series, so it has loose ends to be tied up

    Any additional comments?

I like the characters and the plot.

    "Great Book"

I love these books. The narrator was okay not the best. Had a lot of pauses but it is a great story.

"Great sequel. Narration could be better."

I would be writing very similar things as my review on the first novel, so I'll attempt to be brief.

Most of the new characters were great, especially Seph. The only character I was not initially sold on was Madison, and I may have only been thrown off by (imo) the narrator's bad southern female voice. I got somewhat used to the voice and liked the character in the end.

In my opinion, Mrs. Chima writes female characters much better than many other well known novelists, especially in the fantasy/sci-fi categories. The characters are very rarely weak, feable, incapable or overly ditzy. While some women may fall into that characterization, it gets old incredibly fast.

The Heir Chronicles is one of the most interesting, well formed and thought out fantasy novel series that I have read to date and I've only just finished the second book. I'm wondering when I'll be disappointed.

    I lied about being brief.

    "great book! "

This is the second book in the series. I'm hooked. I love the exciting and action packed story. it definitely draws you in.

My the story was great but I noticed with my download the chapters were all off by about 6 minutes. sometimes he would say chapter(#) and the new chapter would begin on the chapter that was not currently playing. this was especially frustrating when trying to follow with my hard cover book after I was done driving.

none the less the book was great.

Decent book for a teenager who wants to know the beginnings of wizardry. Behavior problems to self identity with discovery of family love. This book has it all.
